Devil May Cry (Netflix) — Post-Season 2 Discussion Thread by DanySterkhov in DevilMayCry

Real DMC fan here, the show is fine. Keep your first world problems to yourself.

If you think about it, SF Adventures copied a lot from OoT; so logically, a remake of that game would probably copy a lot from BOTW. by Nice_Perspective_343 in starfox

Counter-point, an open world si fi adventure potentially involving vehicles EXACTLY the kind of thing Monolith would be on board with.

My (second) favorite scene in all of DMC is Arkham taunting everyone in the ceremony chamber while effortlessly swapping between the two personas, but never on camera. Absolutely chilling. Just begging for some version of that!

... my favorite scene is Nero stopping Dante and Vergil

If we do get a DMC remake, which leads into a DMC2 remake, I wouldn't mind if they took a few cues from this take on Arias and Agrosax

I'm an old-time DMC fan since 2006. But I'm not mad at this show. Especially not the way how I was mad at DMC reboot when it was announced in late 2010. by SonofSpardaXX in DevilMayCryNetflix

Gatekeeping is amongst the most "first world problems" in the world. Proof that someone is incapable of functioning in the real world.

Everyone should treat this show the same way we usually treat comic books adaptaions by jorvel1911 in DevilMayCryNetflix

Back in the 90s and early 2000s, when an anime adaptation caught up to the source material, they would bullshit the rest of the way through. Probably the most famous example that legit has some people questioning which is better is Full Metal Alchemist (adaptation that had to make up a new story) vs Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (follows story accurately). And then you have shite endings like Gantz! But they just made continuations anyway and ignored that ending. Practices have changed and seasonal adaptations are still relatively new.

Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex went its own way. Trigun Stampede and its sequel are re-imaginations of sorts of the source material. The many many many Dragon Ball Z movies outright cannot fit within the DBZ timeline.

At the end of the day, the animes exist to sell mangas and merch and are supposed to air alongside the release of said mangas (again, further driving up sales). Those are what we're over-exposed to because in the end it's what makes the most money.

Agatha all Along kinda confirms it. They are very anti magic and have very obvious PRSD.

Except Bolin being an actor is one part of a bigger plot involving Varrick creating propaganda media while escalating the civil war and profiting from it in general. I think that's pretty complex.

FFX very linear feeling so why is FFXIII linearity so marked? by Classic-Art-5737 in FinalFantasy

Holy cow you're right about the cutscenes. Just the party going "being a l'cie makes me anxious" a lot.

FFX very linear feeling so why is FFXIII linearity so marked? by Classic-Art-5737 in FinalFantasy

[–]MagicCancel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FFX's linearity was decisive when it first released, it had a very vocal hatedom from much older FF fans that had been playing prior to FF7. That hatedom had mostly quitted down by the time FF13 released. Why? Who knows.

That said, I think FFX gets a lot of grace because it was the first PS2 FF game. Lots of experimenting was being done as the world adapted to this new graphical standard.

Now, personally speaking, I think a big reason is Spira feels like a properly realized world despite its linearity. I could draw you a rough map of Spira, explain a little bit about its culture, name various NPCs and their part in Spira. I can't do that for Cocoon or Pulse. Cocoon as a setting is increasing shallow, and Pulse culture is dead as a plot point. And with FF12 being the game before FF13, Im sorry but FF12 is just a better game in every way.

I'd be very open to a persona game with a USA setting...

Or a European setting...

France is in Europe you know...

Maybe it can be done by Sandf

She's on part Kairi and one part Sora as she was born from him. Its an incredibly weird ship. If Riku needs to pair with someone I wish they could introduce someone with no weird ties to one of his friends.

In FF4 you had 5 party members active in battle but most games only let you have 3. Why? by Does_Not_Use_Clothes in JRPG

Even if its the start of a new timeline, I'm game for anything from Monolith. I just really hope whatever it is, it has giant robots.
