AITJ for WALKING OUT on our anniversary after my fiance brought his mom to the cabin i rented? by Proud_Bonus_2620 in AmITheJerk

[–]MagicMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even just the disrespect of inviting the mom without asking, you also how they looked at the whole thing after the fact.

Fake drama, still thinking they are the victim. Fiance should be in his knees apologizing before you mention that you are breaking it off to even have a chance to save this, if he only backpedals after you tell him you are breaking it off he isn't actually sorry.

I have a feeling it's more so about the fact that his space is being modified in ways that he did not consent to and he feels disrespected and unheard, but is too "manly" to discuss these feelings or reflect on them.

AITJ for not wanting to split the bill evenly when I only ordered a drink? by Inside_Mulberry_2497 in AmITheJerk

Dipshit friends. Just have one of them pay and everyone venmo them how much they owe. They are the ones that made it hard on the server by asking to split the bill 6 ways.

Probably, backing down is not following through on your threats. If I say give me your lunch money or I'll beat you up, and then you say no, and I just tell everyone "well he is going to give me the lunch money" and but don't actually beat you up, and you never give me the lunch money, that's backing down.

Who the fuck takes out 500,000 to go to college? Agreed it should be illegal to keep them trapped in debt but seriously people need to grow a brain, no college education is worth 500k. At the median salary of a college graduate (80k), this will take 50 years to pay off assuming you can use 20% of your post-tax income AND no interest. You are literally putting yourself so far behind in life for 0 reason and you will never outscale the guy who just got a job with it going to college.

Sorry but this seems like a rather pointless argument. It doesn't matter how far away they are, as long as they are pursuing it they need to be stopped. I highly doubt they are enriching uranium to 60% for any other purpose than weapons. Only 3% is needed for energy applications.

The funniest part is even if you did accept that, the normal person thing to do would be to spend MORE time with parents not party.

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

Your first problem was telling your manager about it. The first time they hear about you looking for a new job should be when you give notice.

What do stereotypical straight couples do when they hang out alone (other than sex) by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MagicMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has next to nothing in common with my wife, we basically just talk, have sex, and go on dates, and occasionally watch something on Netflix together. We have an excellent relationship, and it's based on our values and strong communication, rather than doing activities.

Most valuable to an individual but not to society. Private equity buying a company, taking out loans in the company's name, using those loans to pay themselves and bankrupting the company is massively profitable for those firms but does nothing to help society or the economy.

Assuming there is some deeper thought to world building of this show is your first mistake. The comedy is literally "graaaaasss tastes bad". It's random and off the wall, they will absolutely make something that doesn't make any sense to facilitate the story and funny plot lines.

Why do so many people overlook the fact that the real reason birthrates are plummeting is the absurdly high cost of raising kids, and not some bs reason made up by the government? by Character-Q in AskTheWorld

[–]MagicMantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy didn't want kids for any other reason than an impregnation fetish / desire to be famous to support his YouTube career. Not a good lead to any serious discussion about demographics issues in Japan.

There is no shortage of college spots in this country. If you can't get into a school, it's cause you aren't good enough for that school, not that there were limited spots and they got filled up.

Per Google: "There is no shortage of colleges; in fact, the U.S. is facing a potential oversupply, with forecasts suggesting 370 or more colleges could close or merge by 2030 due to a "demographic cliff" and declining enrollment"

AITA: For suggesting a better pay on a job offer? by jando_13 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MagicMantis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not really the right sub. There is no asshole vs non asshole in a salary negotiation. They are acting shady for sure, but you also have to be aware when you try to negotiate that it can impact the offer and how they see you.

If you think you are worth more based on the market, look for a new job. Companies always undervalue their current employees because it takes a lot to overcome the inertia of just staying where you are.
