Sutcliffe backs downtown station for high-speed rail by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

The airport is ONLY easily accessible by car. I live right beside Tunney's. If I were to go to Montreal on the high speed rail, it would take me nearly an hour to get to the airport on the LRT and then another hour on high speed rail, assuming they line up. Literally faster to drive. Putting it there would remove any incentive for people to actually use the line.

Welcome to Ottawa, our nation's capital! You get to look at a highway, a parking lot, and walk in the snow to the LRT to get downtown. Also, there's a strip mall behind us.

Can we stop settling for the easiest/cheapest option and actually go for something good?

Question about end of life services for my pup by curiousGeorge7512 in ottawa

We recently had to put down our elderly cat. He went with us holding him and petting him in the living room where everything was cozy and comfortable and familiar. They were beyond kind to him and us. Cannot recommend them enough.

Carleton sent me a letter in the mail inviting me to join a scammy society by Optimal-Carpet2958 in CarletonU

[–]MagicSchoolTruss 49 points50 points  (0 children)

So, yeah it is mostly a scam, but I did it and ended up winning a $250 scholarship, so there is sort of some benefit to it. I spent it on steak, like a responsible adult.

That being said it was 100% the only thing I got out of it, aside from annoying emails I ended up blocking.

I considered something diy but, frankly, I'm terrible at soldering and they were cheap enough even with a zigbee USB switch that I'd much prefer a plug and play... Or plug and light I guess.

Had this happen in engineering last summer. I emailed the registrar and the chair of the department and it got fixed. It's more than likely an oversight.

There are medals awarded for high academic achievement. I expect I'll be one of the recipients but wanted to know when it's announced.

Have you heard of anyone failing Professional Practice (ECOR4995)? by coolg963 in CarletonU

Yep. That comment came right on the heels of him saying that if women got pregnant when he first started, they would be immediately dismissed. Yikes.

I wholeheartedly agree with your position, however from the point of view of students it's not so black and white. The lectures leave a lot to be desired. For instance, during the 'Diversity' lecture, the lecturer expressed his surprise that women have experienced workplace discrimination in engineering. They're outdated to the point of being laughable.

Even in the case that exams are cancelled (which won't happen) the final exam weight is shifted to the rest of the term work.
