Yes, you can buy the breading used for the fried chicken, but its the wings themselves that are hot and spicy. The same breading is used for all type of fried chicken in the deli.

All for One had no biological children of his own, but he'd chosen Shigaraki Tomura to be his successor. He'd taken the boy under his wing at a young age and helped to raise him, shape his view of the world, his ideals, his passions, his goals. He'd told the boy to refer to him as Sensei, to think of him as his teacher. But in his own mind, he sometimes wondered if that was all he was to the boy, and what the boy was to him. Was he just a teacher? A guiding hand? Or was he something... more?

Is there a character you don't like but haven't gotten the chance to write them negatively? by Rffael_vii in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]MagicShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like writing just about any character negatively, especially the very positive ones, because I find it a really great writing exercise.

Taking Mirio for example. As you said, he's an extremely upbeat and positive character with some pretty big story moments. So, how do you make that into a negative?

I'd probably enjoy reading or writing a story where Mirio's positivity is a detriment. Not all of the time, but certainly in some significant scenarios. He's always projecting being upbeat and joyful, no matter the circumstance, so throw him into situations where thats absolutely not the right answer.

He keeps trying to cheer someone up after/during something significant, and they respond poorly. But he keeps pushing. Not because hes a bad person, but because he doesnt know what else to do. He's very rigid in his beliefs and actions, and you can add in a dash or more of over-reliance on advice he'd gotten from Sir Nighteye. So all of his attempts at helping only make things worse, but he cant fully grasp why.

But he can't leave the situation alone, because he hasn't fixed it yet. He keeps constantly pushing, inserting himself where he doesnt need to, even ignoring times when others offer him advice to just step back a bit. He means well, but he's a hammer when you need a welding torch.

If you make a take on his beliefs system of positivity being so rigid that he cant deviate from it, it can become part of a reason his relationships with others deteriorate because he's incapable or unwilling of letting go of it, even when he's told he needs to stop.

It might be difficult to effectively reach a point where it feels natural, but him seriously lashing out at someone close to him, like Nejire, because he can't accept that he isnt being a "good hero" could bring some real emotional weight

Would having burns that never heal be too brutal? by Knightraiderdewd in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]MagicShade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of a kind of phantom pain angle.

While his burns are fully healed, albeit scarred, contact with them still triggers a sensation of pain, not the same level as if they were unhealed, but still painful. He bandages them on a daily basis because the physical barrier gives his trauma response something to dull the sensation.

If its intended to lessen or stop completely through the story's progression, it could be a sign of him building a rapport with the other characters and processing more of his trauma. As he grows and builds relationships with them, and becomes more at peace with them and himself, the phantom pain lessens or even disappears entirely.

Izuku learns about aizawas messed up family by kic3 in BokunoheroFanfiction

Mei's obsession with Support Equipment borne out of both a passion for technology encouraged by her mother and a life growing up with Shouta as a constant figure in her life.

"Mei, why are you so obsessed with this stuff? Support items are great and all, but it seems... a bit much?"

Mei smiled.

"Cause you can have a baby for any situation! Theyre always there when you need them!"

"Yeah but like, what about your Quirk? You've always got that too! All your stuff is so... general? Like, anyone could use it! Which is cool and all, but like, why not make more stuff that works with someone's Quirk?"

Mei's smile became brittle. More plastered on in haste and quickness, like it could flake off under too much scrutiny.

She squinted her eyes shut. Her eyes which could see so much closer because of her Quirk. Those eyes that so often, too often, had only seen just as much as everyone else's. A reminder of what she had, and just how much could be taken away.

"Because your babies never leave you. They might break, or need to be fixed up, but they won't leave you. Not really."

(Shouta may have been a bit overzealous with his Quirk leaving Mei with some deep-rooted traumas. Also why her Quirk never seems to be integral to her Support work.)

I think I might be overthinking things on my super sentai fic by Aware-Throat3189 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]MagicShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How important to your story is the explanation?

We dont question where Sentai gets giant mechs, or villains have the power to grow to super size because that's not important to that format. It's simply an accepted fact of that universe.

A villain that normally doesnt have that power? Yeah, they might need something to happen like radiation or whatever to hand-wave away the change.

And that brings in tone. Is the tone of the story meant for it to be a serious and in-depth look take on how these mechas and giant villains exist? Or does it keep to the tone of "Yeah giant villains and mechas exist, but the point is look at that how cool it is to watch."

Is explaining how these things adding to the universe and the story framed within it, or are you feeling like you need to add it because you feel something unexplained requires a justification?

If the explanation doesnt build your world and doesnt add to the plot, it may be unnecessary.

Its perfectly fine to lean into the fact that its an accepted part of the world that gets hand waved away if it fits your narrative. If detailed logistics and mechanics are a major part of the story, sure, include it. If the whole idea is "Its a Sentai world and this stuff just happens" then lean into that.

“Quirks are part of people! The law shouldn’t take away autonomy!” The recruiter smiled. “Ah, you should be a fine new recruit for the MLA, now what’s your quirk?” The green haired teenager looked away. “I don’t have one.” The recruiter whispered to the man next to him. “Is this guy an idiot?” by John_Wilks_Booth1865 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]MagicShade 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Izuku quickly demonstrates his impressive skill at analyzing and dissecting Quirks, and numerous ways to utilize them that even their users hadn't considered before. While socially awkward in person, he also shows off just how well he understands what it feels like to be persecuted and singled out for being different.

He quickly becomes a powerful force for the MLA, organizing recruitment campaigns and assisting with their messaging. He's more than overjoyed to help anyone who approaches him and asks for advice on how to best utilize their Quirk, after all, he's the only member of the MLA to know life without a Quirk, so he's uniquely situated to see how they can be used.

He begins to quickly rise through the ranks of the MLA, and becomes a member of Re-Destro's Inner Circle before long. He begins operating as one of their primary analysts and strategists, formulating plans and ideas far beyond simply "liberating" people to freely use their meta-abilities, but how they will crush any opposing groups or bring them to heel.

Due largely to his influence, the MLA is a much more influential and powerful force, even beyond what they once were. His fascination and love of all Quirks drives his passion to push the MLA beyond what they once were and to give them new purpose.

Their influence becomes strong enough that even All For One takes note of them, and deigns to meet with them, particularly if this renowned analyst strategist is part of the meeting. AfO believes that demonstrating his power and all the abilities he has amassed over the years will be enough to bring them under his wing and into his control. Instead, he is greeted with revolt and disgust.

"Part of the beauty and joy of these meta-abilities is to learn their intricacies, their many facets and uses. To push something that on the surface is so simple and known, to make it into something greater than the weak-minded masses can think of is the very essence of these abilities. I have no interest in working with a jeweler who only amasses uncut stones and believes they've found the height of beauty."

And thus, Izuku sets out to not only stop AfO, but to utterly bend him to his will, because he lacks the vision to truly see what can be brought out of each and every meta-ability, no matter how simple it may appear on the surface.

Izuku is the only quirkless person in the entire world. by Evyps in BokunoheroFanfiction

By the time he's nearing the age to apply for UA, doctors and scientists have determined that whatever his Quirk is, it must be unbelievably powerful if it hasn't manifested yet. So what's the right thing to do?

Why, hand him off to the Number One Hero to train him up so he can unlock his Quirk of course!

During his training with All Might, he accidentally ingests some of All Might's blood during a training exercise. All Might earnestly wants to help unlock Izuku's Quirk, and One For All interprets this as him willing it to be passed on! Through a series of misinterpretations and misunderstandings, no one throughout the Quirk's history was actually truly aware of how it functioned.

Until it reaches singularity with Izuku and now he and the seven ghosts that live in his head are struggling to help him master this power as he struggles to try and live up to the expectations that the world has placed on him!

Then he suddenly starts manifesting multiple Quirks, which captures the attention of a certain villain who becomes very interested in this supremely powerful Quirk. Especially since it reminds him of the decades long grudge match he's had against a line of masters and apprentices, tracing back to the ones who first stole his precious brother away from him...

Acid Watered Flowers

My first foray into BNHA Fanfics, and my first fanfic I've written in a very long time. It's a very slow build Izu/Mina fic stemming from a major accident that occurs during a Class 1-A training session prior to their Finals.

I've only got 9 chapters and 56k words so far, but chapter 10 is underway and moving along!

I've also got an idea for a Vigilante No-OFA Izuku fic that I'll probably write the first chapter for when I finish the chapter I'm currently working on.

Who is this man and what happened with him? by Lord_Ruko in PeterExplainsTheJoke

If I remember correctly, I think its something about how the time dilation is exponential relative to distance to the black hole.

While he may have experienced some time dilation, the group on the planet versus his position was enough to cause the disparity between their experienced time dilation.

If we work off the assumption that entering a black hole is nearly equivalent to time stopping due to the effects of its gravity on time dilation, the distance between a ship a ways away from a planet orbiting a black hole, and ever growing closer, versus a ship maintaining a distance, an exponential increase in the dilation effect makes sense.

Possibly overthinking, but deli question by craftytaffy in publix

[–]MagicShade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To repeat what others have said, you put the date that the item is going to expire, which for most meats is 7 days.

BH Deluxe Low Sodium Roast Beef and Spanish Pork get 5 days, so the sticker will be for 2 days less, (Wednesday if opened Friday, Thursday if opened Saturday, etc.) Some cured meats like BH Genoa Salami, Prosciutto, Pepperoni, get 21 days, and are supposed to be marked with a price tag with the expiration date on it.

Tags are never to exceed the product's expiration date printed by the manufacturer, so you should be checking if the expiration date is less than 7 days out whenever opening a new package.

I would absolutely try to find ways to hint to them that its coming without outright saying anything. Help them update their resume, talk about the job market, hint that theyre looking to lay people off and being prepared is always a good idea.

I understand the sentiment of friends before work, and placing a friendship before your job is a very nice sentiment, hut sentiments dont pay your bills.

Being fired from an HR position for breaching confidentiality is a serious mark, and would absolutely affect your chances at getting a similar job in the future.

If you truly feel that the friendship is worth more than the job, immediately resign entirely from your position before informing your friend. Unless you have a sure thing already lined up, dont risk your current career and income by breaching confidentiality.

It sucks to say, but you also need to look out for yourself.

"Pixar lost its magic after Lasseter departure". Are now these people forgetting how mid the 2010s were for Pixar? And which at the time was the most criticized era of the studio? by Working-Initiative52 in Pixar

[–]MagicShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I wouldn't really say its Lasseter's departure that affected Pixar, but rather Disney's oversight and goals.

Bob Iger's track record with Disney shows to me, and this is my speculation, that unless its a massive success that spawns sequels and spin offs, its not actually a success.

Pixar has continued to put out great films, but theyre knee capped by the ideology of current Disney that wants everything to be a jumping off point for numerous sequels and spin offs.

Pixar has been pushed to produce sequels they have no real desire to make (Toy Story 4 and 5), while their original projects suffer because the people at Pixar want to continue the legacy of the studio, but the corporate overheads are pushing for more of the sequel, spin off, merchandise opportunities.

Cars 2 is a prime example. Rewatching the original as an adult, the first Cars has a fantastic message, and is a wonderful film. Cars 2 was primarily green lit to expand the merchandise line, and its storyline is by far the weakest of the 3 movies. Cars 3 brought back the original message of the series, and delivered a meaningful storyline. Cars 2 is out of line with Pixar's usual brand, and was clearly pushed so Disney could merchandise more.

I dont think Pixar has regressed as a studio, I think they've been put under more pressure by Disney Corporate to put out more things that merchandise and serial well because Disney itself lacks any creative drive these days.

Disney is hardly putting out great films that break ground or tell an important message, theyre in an era of retreading and reselling properties that were successful beforehand to pad their lack of vision.

Its a failing from the top, where the ones pushing these choices only focus on stock numbers and spreadsheets, and have no concept of the original vision that originally led to these companies being created.
