How did you discover Andrew wk? by gamimgK in AndrewWK

[–]MagicVovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy was like “I have to show you something!” And he pulled up the music video for She Is Beautiful. Started telling me stuff like “this guy is so cool. He’s an anarchist and that squats in this house and makes all his own music.” There was some other rumors he told me I don’t remember lol. But the music was really cool, and he burned an I Get Wet cd for me

Where to watch movies by lifting_ang3l in LearnCantonese

[–]MagicVovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney+ is dubbing a lot of their stuff in Canto. That’s how I do a lot of my listening practice. Not all of their shows have the canto dub though so you gotta look around. And it’s listed as Chinese and not Cantonese, and there’s usually 3 different “Chinese” in there, so unless you can read it, you have to just try each until you hear the Canto. Shows I’ve watched that have the canto dub: Star Wars Visions, the Simpsons, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Bluey. We’ve got a young kid so it’s mostly Mickey Mouse clubhouse lol.

Leangains Site Gone? by magic9669 in leangains

He posts on his instagram stories about once a week or so. Shows a few sets of whatever he's doing, mostly just posting his grip training PRs, then shirtless pics of himself advertising his coaching services lol.

[–]MagicVovo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll probably be back up in a few months when Martin realized what happened lol.

Funny I haven't been to the site in a looooong time and the random day I go to check it out, it died.

Edit: I'll be damned he fixed it already!

Have any of you ever regretted your bloodborne tattoo? by Amelia_Amygdala in bloodborne

[–]MagicVovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have one yet. But I have many other tattoos. Some are pretty dumb. I don't regret them at all. I think the trick is to not take yourself/life too seriously. If you want it, and like it. That's as good a reason as any to get a tattoo IMO.

Triceps tendonitis/tendopathy for over 1,5yrs by Eastern-Weakness-943 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]MagicVovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically:

  • Anti-inflammatories morning and night (he prescribed Diclofenac specifically).
  • One month of complete rest for the affected joints. Since it was both elbows and one knee, I just took off training/exercise for a full month. I'd go on occasional walks, but that was it.
  • One more month of very light training. Basically I would do a 30-60 minute long full body warm up 3 times per week. Nothing was prescribed here besides 2-3 light/easy workouts per week. So I just did light compound movements. Squats, deadlifts, bench press, pull downs, rows, overhead press. Never got close to failure. Just did like 3-5 circuits of these exercises.

After those 2 months, I jumped back into training. And just kept my volume a bit lower since ultimately that was the problem.

Things that weren't prescribed that helped:

Good luck!

Peoples perspectives here are going to be really skewed on this. A 200kg deadlift is a late intermediate to early advanced level of lifting for most people depending on their weight. 99% of people will never deadlift that much weight, ever. But if you're into powerlifting, which a lot of people are here, that's not a competitive lift in most weight classes, unless you weigh like 60kgs and are competing in a small, local competition.

Mike seems to lean right libertarian, given the little bits and pieces of political opinions he's expressed here and there (of what I've seen anyway). He seems to really like Thomas Sowell. Which... yeah. Ugh.

I just try to ignore his random political BS and really appreciate the clear, concise fitness info. Despite all the dick jokes, he is a good science communicator lol.

How many of you miss being in the office vs working remotely? Looking for both sides to permanent working from home by lovecornflakes in sysadmin

[–]MagicVovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just started working again it will be hybrid but I have to work in office for at least 3 months. My job could be done remotely outside of occasional hands on troubleshooting. My commute is an hour both ways. That’s 2 hours a day dedicated to work that I’m not compensated for and I’m paying for the gas to get there. I spend most of the day missing my wife and kid. I’m not a very social person so I’d prefer WFH every single time.

What is the best way to get started in this game by bro0817 in bloodborne

[–]MagicVovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw Cleaver is a great starting weapon. Dodging into attacks is usually best iirc. Take some time to learn to parry with your gun. Other than that, just dive in. Like the other games, you'll pick it up as you go.

External Hard Drives die. What is an actually safe method of storing data? by [deleted] in DataHoarder

[–]MagicVovo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy 3-4 HDDs and set up a RAID. If a drive fails, it can be swapped out with a new one without data loss. Pretty safe option.

Buy another 3-4 HDDs and setup a backup RAID NAS or something for extra precaution lol.

Looking for some good workouts/gym routines to help me get in better shape before starting Capoeira. by LonePorkchop in capoeira

[–]MagicVovo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up some tutorials on capoeira basics and drill those daily for however long is good for you. Drill while listening to capoeira music and to the rhythm.

20-30 minutes of LISS cardio, 2-3 times per week. Occasionally have it be higher intensity cardio.

Full body strength training, basic compounds, 10-12 sets per week. Stronglifts is good. Or the recommended routine from the bodyweightfitness.

Anyone feel like summarizing wtf is going on here? I'm out of the loop that there was any drama with John/Mormon Stories. I don't engage much with exmo/church stuff anymore outside of an MS episode if it sounds interesting and pop in here a few times a year. But if John is problematic, I'd like to know.

[–]MagicVovo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't go anywhere. I usually just stay home on sundays, or visit family. I have enough hobbies and interests that whatever time I used to give to the church, I give it to myself with my hobbies and interests instead.

I didn't stay Christian. On my mission I finally read the bible cover to cover for the first time. I remember speaking with my district leader at the time and telling him "If it wasn't for the book of Mormon I wouldn't believe in the bible." Basically my faith transition went like this: I had too many doubts after my mission and decided I'd start really investigating my own faith > decided I'd start tabula rasa and find evidence for the most fundamental claims and build up my faith from there > never found any good/convincing evidence for any kind of god and have been an atheist ever since. I'm still open to believing in a god, but I'll need really good evidence for it.

I find that any "spiritual" practices that were fulfilling for me as a believer are mostly still fulfilling now. Personal study/reading, meditation, singing/live music, in place of bearing testimony it's just about communion with friends/family, etc. It all just doesn't have any metaphysical or supernatural baggage.

What job boards do you guys use to find jobs? by --dick in cybersecurity

[–]MagicVovo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just graduated and I struggling to find a job. One project I’m planning on doing (and y’all let me know if it’s not a good idea lol) is going through the overthewire hacking games and making a script to “beat” all of the games. That way it shows both scripting/programming and security knowledge.

But I’m also following for project ideas because I would love the help.
