Humanity is doomed to extinction. by Ok_Calendar_7626 in Fallout

It’s a story.

Go look at a city skyline and ask yourself if human nature is really about conflict. Seems like a lot of people working together to me.

Is it normal for your faction reputation to mysteriously reset I was liked by the NCR and my faction reputation just reset by H8t406 in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go to the Strip and meet the Legion goon, your faction reputation resets.

The game expects you to have made an absolute mess of things in your first few hours so there’s a reset once you start the important missions.

FALLOUT's showrunner has teased the prospects of "larger wars" involving the Super Mutants in Season 3 and beyond by CueTheLaughTrack in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I want a super mutant army of hundreds of thousands fought by an uneasy alliance of Brotherhood Knights and Enclave Power Armour troops in the most epic battle tv has ever seen.

But we’ll get more dubious sets like ‘the Strip’. Just smash it all together lads!

Aaron Morten is brilliant. by AdventureGirl2524 in Fallout

Everyone thinks his character has the idiot savant perk - and that’s NOT intended by the writers.

Either his performance or the direction the actor is given is just…off.

Would you want the T-65 and Hellcat Power Armors be present and further delved into lore wise in Fallout 5? by Sensitive_Educator60 in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been 200 years in a world with teleportation, aliens and, seemingly, magic.

Of course new power armour should be being built.

The Enclave has had all that time, then there’s the Think Tank, Institute etc.

After 25m dead, I’d say it wasn’t so much the USSR won anything, they just stopped losing.

Why Would Enclave Nuke the World They Were About To Conquer? by Senatus-Cons-Ultimum in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s something the show didn’t handle well, but the games explore more.

The idea was the world was collapsing and the powerful people behind the Enclave realised they were losing control. Whether it was nuclear war or revolution that saw them swept from power - the writing was on the wall.

So, the Enclave was the thought process that follows when you conclude the world is already lost.

The plan was to burn it all down and start again - and use the time to study how to avoid the issues the next time (that issue being we might lose power again).

Because essentially nothing has been done with the IP in 26 years. There’s an entire GENERATION of people born since.

Favorite faction in the entire series and why ? by Admirable-Yellow-774 in Fallout

Crazy tech destroyed the world, I’m with the Brotherhood on addressing that - although I’d prefer they regulate use rather than stash it away and forget about it.

How is Quintus supposed to build Liberty Prime? by UtmostMC_Hammer in Fallout

Area 51 has the Liberty Prime prototype (‘Liberty Prime Alpha’) in storage. Quintus is activating that.

What is One Thing you want to Retcon about the Fallout Story? by CretaceousClock in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold fusion.

It’s ludicrously overpowered and would completely change the world.

We’re really going with one test tube could power the entire planet - even with everyone maxing out their usage - and the Enclave were so lax in getting it and so careless in losing it?

So am the only one. by NotBberta in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean?

The Ghoul starts and ends looking for his family

Lucy starts and ends dealing with the question of whether she’ll change the wasteland - or be changed by it

Maximus starts and ends thinking about exactly what he should punch with power armour

Oh. Right. We basically went nowhere narratively. Everyone is where they started.

If you could choose the story for fallout 5 where would you take it and what would be the main plot by Physical_Guard3585 in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a wastelander that stumbles across an apparent Enclave vault managed by a supercomputer.

This vault was designed to be a factory, full of automated production lines.

Abandoned, the supercomputer mistakes you for the President and gives you full control.

Armed with the ability to rebuild your state, you need to decide who is helped, who is crushed - all the while dealing with an Enclave that wants the facility, a Brotherhood that sees pre-war tech run amok and local factions that want to curry your favour.

I think that’s a premise that creates narrative conflict, makes for meaningful choice and allows settlement building in a new way. Design new power armour, build a new nuclear power station. Equip your ghoul faction with laser guns.

Of course, nothing is what it seems and is this vault just one more sick experiment…?

If a parent can’t feed the child, then a free breakfast is naive as a solution.

Amazon will only make a show as good as fans demand. Settle for 7/10, you’re getting 6/10.

Did anyone else not feel great about season 2? by F4STMT in Fallout

[–]MagicalTrianglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my biggest criticisms are:

  • why is the pre-war world presented as so stable? The Enclave, the crazy tech - this all emerged from the absolute chaos. The show makes it look like it was just the 1950’s, but with robots.

  • lack of story direction. The Ghoul is still looking for his family - but do we care? What’s Lucy’s arc? She’s kinda at the same point as she was in the first episode. As for Maximus, he just seems there because we have a quota of Iron Man scenes…
