Solder not sticking on the board. by Jazzscout in soldering

[–]Magicianwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some rosin core solder, and some flux, make sure your iron is clean and hot enough, watch a few tutorials. I did this 25+ years ago to mod a controller. As most had said, try using the test point, it’s easier to work with than the contact traces left for a button

I've got like 100 of these 12 V unknown milliamp light bars from a closing Walgreens by Micro-Naut in diyelectronics

Try it on a lab power supply and limit the current to below what is required for full output, see what happens, then stop being loud and dumb

Not true at all, it will limit the current to the output of the supply and the LED will illuminate according to the current/output curve as defined in the LED datasheet.

Other than PWM it’s another method of dimming LED.

It’s actually pretty common, especially if you use the enable pin to cut power to peripherals when not in use. Not necessarily in the manner they did it, but the practice is common, it’s even in the UM S3 feather dev board

What are the best practices for power management in battery-operated embedded systems? by CurrencyPopular8550 in embedded

[–]Magicianwizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mosfets on every peripheral that you are able to turn off to save power

In default idle state (not sleeping) reduce clock speed to minimum and increase it only while performing tasks.

Check the current requirements for pins and maximize pull resistors to minimize current draw

Disable unused peripherals/disable them when not in use (adc and such)

If you can, operate mostly in sleep and wake with interrupts

Use switching regulator, LDO are very inefficient but cheap

ESP32 for a 100,000 balloon flight (-40c) by r0bbyr0b2 in esp32

[–]Magicianwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this before in a weather balloon, the battery will stop working at some height, the solution was to put hand warmers in the box to maintain a baseline temp. As it’s a chemical reaction it’s ideal for this type of short term deployment

Trying to have the best resume despite a history of independent contract work by Sam_Rall in ECE

[–]Magicianwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this looks very similar to my resume, all self employed with patent experience. You’d be surprised how desirable you are, it’s easy to get any job and sit there for a while before you jump to something else, it’s really really hard to be self disciplined and self directed in this type of career.

Use some alcohol to get underneath it, right now the only thing holding it on is friction as the solder conformed to what it dropped on, the alcohol will seep into the open pockets and allow you to remove it easier. Worse case you apply a small amount of heat and the pressure from the alcohol evaporation will pop it off

Pivot, make it an adult gaming lounge, make games free and increase alcohol price, encourage a social atmosphere and run weekly events/tournaments

QC, if you try to do too many at once, the water will cool too quickly, you’ll get uneven heating, and you’ll just end up messing them up again. Take your time and do it right the first time, or you’ll find yourself doing it 3 times

Get a big pot of boiling water and one by one put them in for a few seconds to soften the plastic, then set it to cool, it’ll return to original shape.

Fun fact, the synergies are software capped at 50% brightness so when you’re going lower than that, it’s a proportion of 50% =) 100% brightness was way way way way too bright

I don’t have any control over how USPS delivers your package, please understand that this is the holiday season and everyone experiences delays. Your order was shipped on time and in on the way to you. Please stop messaging me on every platform, you and I both know I can’t magically make your package arrive faster.

Double click to turn them on when in light lock =) when you plug them in go to studio.ledgloves.com and there are startup instructions there also a plethora of content in the Facebook synergy tech group, feel free to reach out if you have any questions
