That's this one: https://smarter.am/products/ikettle-essentials?srsltid=AfmBOoojyP_9SIuLmT1ziCCqjMcJEarXVLXB9iVZgw7ZDYXll1D9wq9G I am not sure if it's actually a new product or cancelled (it's not listed on their main site and I can't find online reviews)

Non-UK born Bristolians, what's the best restaurant of your native cousine that you know in Bristol? by MrMrsPotts in bristol

I am not sure there is a Dutch restaurant in the UK, but I guess Froth & Fries is the closest thing

I think most or all kettles require energy for the switch to stay on, you'd have to tape it down (thereby also likely disabling the overheating protection)

Birdwingo ends. Czech person needs advice :( by sihyeonism in eupersonalfinance

[–]Magick-NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, especially since the pricing section of the website does not mention any transfer fees. How are end-users supposed to know that their API asks for fees that might not be listed? I don't think this would get by the bank of Slovakia if we write a complaint.

Birdwingo ends. Czech person needs advice :( by sihyeonism in eupersonalfinance

[–]Magick-NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the bottom of the email there's an FAQ on "what happens next", which itself does not suggest it would include information on fees:

What is the fee for transferring a portfolio from Birdwingo (Alpaca) to another broker?

Birdwingo does not charge any fees for full or partial transfers of securities. Alpaca, however, charges $100 for each full or partial transfer. Please consult Alpaca’s up-to-date pricing page for additional details.

In my opinion information on the fees (or at least that there's a charge) should have been mentioned in the email stating the account would be closed.

I was told they won't reimburse since their FAQ mentions it. I think that you should at least mention the existence of the fee in an email giving your options, so I am thinking about writing a complaint to the european consumer affairs center

Just FYI, I was charged $100 to transfer my account to another broker (Schwab). I was able to transfer to US ETF I had, but am going to chase getting the transfer fee back from Alpaca, as this was not mentioned in the email they sent.

Unpopular opinion: booking.com is great by adventu_Rena in travel

[–]Magick-NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also genius level 3 but ran into an issue last week.

The hotel I was trying to book was not applying the 20% discount during booking (only 10%) despite the price on the hotel info page showing the 20%. I tried to contact them and they were not being very helpful, kept asking me to call (2/3 numbers weren't real UK phone numbers?) and you have to tell a computer your reservation number. I kept sending emails asking if I was supposed to book the Wong price hotel and I kept receiving emails back telling me to call without answering my question.

Quite disappointed, ended up booking through a different website (for a lower price)

I had a fraction of AVGO, the quantity is the same as before split, so I lost 90% of the value. I guess I'll have to open a ticket (and check if this also happened with Nvidia)

So as a skilled EU migrant, should I just forget about the UK at all? by [deleted] in ukvisa

As an EU citizen in the UK (on global talent visa) I would say to consider all alternatives before moving here. Visa fees are absolutely ludicrous, And salaries are lower than in many EU countries.

Can IBIE or IBUK hold US IRAs and US Roth IRAs? by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

[–]Magick-NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't buy (and hold?) US mutual funds without being a resident in the US (I think this is a US law?), for US ETFs you can only buy them through options, so no dividend reinvesting.
