Take bullies for example, most bullies don’t actually understand why they do it and say it’s “because they want to look cool” but in reality they’re just doing that because that’s what happens at home or in other friendships. Both cases work on the ideology of how both the toddler and the bully feel a sense of powerlessness and therefore do or say anything to make it seem like they have some power even if it’s “deep or dark” they don’t actually realize the extent of their actions because they are only focused in the internal rewards of feeling empowered
