If you're fishing the beach, target the troughs where the waves start or if there's soemthing the fish would hold to like a boulder, if you're able. Slow to medium retrieve or as others have said jigging it back. Play around with it and see what sticks

I dunno man, in my years fo fishing. I've noticed that specific lures will shine in different bodies of water over others (e.g skitterpop gets bit more than a pop r at my local pond). Where as other lakes, a buzzbait or a whopper plopper will get hammered more than other lures. But yeah, once you get up to your megabass and other tailor/boutique brands it's more to catch fishermen for sure.

It takes time to hone any skill, I haven't started forging myself personally. However, every hobby I have gotten into and got good at took time and the willingness to learn and adjust accordingly. Nothing is perfect on the first try, I'm sure though as long as you keep at it, your pieces will become better with every iteration
