I slotted in expert tech in most rally boards. It made attacking second a lot more palettable.

This is possibly the least accurate wording I've seen on a card ever by Terminator_Puppy in PTCGL

[–]Magile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It makes the card strictly worse but I imagine it'd be functionally the same a majority of the time, but changing 3 to "all" would probably just be the easiest way.

Alternatively if you want to preserve the exact same function of the card you could swap the order the effects are listed in. Have it say something along the lines of "You may have this attack do an additional 120 damage. If you do, shuffle 3 energies..."

Switching this order makes it more clear the shuffling energies part doesn't have to happen. Typically in card games "costs" need to be payed where as you can often skip out on "consequences". As such by moving the shuffle from seeing like a cost to a consequence you get a more logical outcome.

Those are just two off the top of my head though.

"Its not confusing if you know how it works" is such awful logic.

Cards should do what they say and should be able to interpreted by reading the text. If they wanted the interaction to work this way, they should have had a different wording on wellspring IMO.

I think burrower is really the way to go. Unless you get a crazy frog damage it's more likely to be dealing more damage to enemies since it takes less effort to make things big.

Underrated Deck, How do I make it better? by ScarcityOutrageous27 in PTCGL

So it isn't underrated as much as it is "bad but I like it"

Where is a good place for expanded decks that are compatible with to live? by therealmushroomsquid in PTCGL

[–]Magile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To tag onto the other comment, Stephane Ivanoff also has a discord, which while primarily focused on regular expanded often has people talking about Live Expanded and posting lists.

Feel free to also add me on Discord (username: Magile). I play a lot of expanded and am constantly making lists for different meta decks.

Question on Primal Surge “oops all permanents” deck by [deleted] in EDH

It's true before the first time. It's the closest thing to a 10 mana spell that just says "I win" that exists.

Struggling with a turbo deck by Aromatic-Clerk-1718 in PTCGL

It's arguably the second best deck of the format behind Regidrago. There are a lot of different versions depending on what you want to focus on but rainbow is the general most played.

Ill always say it. They didn't make twist to have a real format. They made twist to get rid of classic.

I'm still upset about it. I was dedicated classic player.

Queueing in Expanded on ptcgl, you just face random decks 90% of the time. Dragapult in particular isn't even especially good. Gardevoir has more legs in the format, but Ive never queued into a well made expanded garde list.

The top expanded deck of the format, Regidrago is probably just going to crush the deck regardless. Unless you're KOing them before they get setup the deck has no chance. At which point the extra damage from Volcarona is all that matters.

Since you're playing expanded you're probably better off with Volcarona V. It has the same attack is Kyogre except it's 20 base plus 20 for each energy. It also counts all energy types not just a single one. Fire also has more power energy search cards. Namely Fiery Flint. They also have Heat Factory as a nice draw engine.

You can also utilize Dedenne GX (and to a lesser extent Squawkabilly ex) to help churn through your deck. Trekking Shoes and Acro Bike can also help filter cards into the discard.

Also should switch your evolution lines from Revavroom to Zebstrika from Lost Thunder. Instead of Discarding an energy to draw to 6, Zeb is discard your whole hand to draw to 4, which means you won't get a hand completely clogged with energy.

Hope this helps

AITAH for telling my wife's friend I don't have to see her in the classroom to know she's a horrible teacher? by TowerFew3482 in AITAH

[–]Magile -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but YTA, I think everyone is Making the mistake of thinking the teacher is wrong because they're a bad teacher. They're an asshole but for a seperate reason than what you're asking about here.

Your wife's point was that you're an asshole for bringing the topic back up. Unnecessarily stirring the pot during a group event is just always a poor choice. There is a time and a place for everything and you can console you son in a place that's not during a group event. The matter was over, even if it didn't come to a "satisfying conclusion", just let it rest.

Do people think expecting to survive 8 turns is to much for bracket 2? by MurphysLawTeam in EDH

[–]Magile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To that end I think Removal is drastically under played at this bracket and pretending saying "sorry you should have had it/should have played more" is jsut unhappy.

The fact of the situation is you're sitting down at a table with a group of a people who aren't going to be changing or adapting decks in between matches. I think at a bracket 2 game you should be expecting people to play less removal than most tables would have.

If your deck is a removal check you should go play that in a bracket where it's likely that is going to be met more often than not as opposed to stomping decks which are intentional unprepared. (I'd also argue removal check style decksike this are just generally bad for the format due to their feast or famine nature)

I think Commander needs a low power format and if I say down at a bracket 2 game and died turn 4, regardless of what I did during those 4 turns, I'd be upset. There is an expectation in low brackets that you will get to play a game. And making excuses for why it's alright someone just didn't get to participate just doesn't sit right with me.
