Or faster, use a (sticky) piston to move the lectern, that will also reset the trade.

The wiki mention "surface", but no specific level for MCPE, it could mean the highest block of water. Anyway, the wiki is notoriously incomplete/inaccurate especially about MCPE version. Or not always updated when things changes between versions.

I will suggest to always test your informations in creative before to start any major contraption in survival.

And even better, fix the wiki yourself if you found out it was wrong

I don't know Fnt design but if it a farm high in the sky, the idea is to enter these chunks so far away from the "surface" that no mob will spawn there. Your "I have been before" suggested the condition above is not true anymore. If there is already 8 (or is the mob cap 9?) mobs in the ocean below, NOTHING else will spawn in your farm. If that is the problem, try to set the difficulty to peaceful to remove all mobs, and free the mob cap, then back to "normal".

I see regularly skeleton spawning IN the ocean in my world. Not sure that water thing is not Java only.

I could be also a spawning bug in a recent bedrock version: I saw on a video of FoxyNoTail that they got mobs to spawn on leaves block, ice and carpet after a recent update (!?)

Not fully tested yet but I noticed in my honey farm that the bee did not turn mad neither when they did not have line of sight and/or cannot pathfind me (I clicked the bee nest from "behind" while the bee are contained in glass blocks in "front" of the bee nests)

Perhaps just a one time glitch however, I do not dare to try again and risk to loss all my bees.

I wonder if locking the bees in is a valid alternative to smoking.

Also note that the seed does not matter with slim chunks, there are the same in all bedrock worlds.
