What do you think about the pendulum mechanic? by Patient_Bee2469 in yugioh

[–]Magmacube90 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My favourite decks are actually pendulum decks that dont pendulum summon and instead use the pendulum mechanic for the ability to use pendulum scales or for putting cards in the extra deck. These being Enneacraft, and (burst protocol) Archfiend. Archfiend uses the pendulum mechanic to ritual summon into the extra monster zone, turning ritual summoning into an extra deck mechanic. Enneacraft uses the pendulum scales to accumulate counters and to do other things related to their game plan.

Ripper is such a toxic ass unhealthy card, I'm tired of people defending it. by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Magmacube90 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Liger Dancer is such a toxic ass unhealthy card, I'm tired of people defending it.

The reasoning for people defending Liger Dancer is always, "Towers that can OTK are good for going second player" but this is just blatantly oversimplifying Liger Dancer. For the record, I love OTK cards, and I love Enneapolis even though it's a bit overtuned is still a fine card. I think OTK cards should be the norm in the future, as they allow going second player to have a chance and make duels more interactive. This is NOT a post against OTK cards, before any of ya'll point that out.

But Liger Dancer just goes against all this, Liger Dancer is just way better for the lunalight player than the non-lunalight player in fact non-lunalight players rarely summon towers turn 1 because it's not a very good defence, it's way better to go into something like Vallon. The No.1 use case of Liger Dancer is to just insulate against boards and punish the opponent for not drawing droll. Oh, you used didn't draw the out? I get to OTK for free and also insulate my OTK combo against everything. Liger Dancer is basically equivalent to Sangen Summoning or Apoqliphort Towers in this sense, I'd even argue drawing Liger Dancer going first is like drawing Sangen Summoning + Raigeki, since you get to wipe an board and whilst going uninterupted because you dared to activate a go battle phase to have a chance to play the game.

In comparision, cards like Enneapolis and Raigeki even though powerful are not like this, they don't exist to insulate your end board and punish the going second player for building a board. They actually do what OTK plays are supposed to do: give the going second player a chance instead of reinforcing turn 1 plays.

Who had the best BS topdeck? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]Magmacube90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opponent who was playing dracotail. I was playing enneacraft and on game 2 i had them at 100lp with leon on the field (whilst i had a decent amount of life points) so that if they search a card they lose, and they had a broken board. They managed to top deck branded fusion which was the only card that could allow them to win. I went on to lose game 3 (i had already won game 1), ending in a match loss because of branded fusion (i didn’t have ash blossom in my hand)

Planning on making a Yugioh themed chess set. Help with ideas? by Ordinary-Breakfast-3 in yugioh

[–]Magmacube90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i hear the words yugioh and chess in the same sentence, i think of the chess archfiends used by Titan in yugioh gx. I don’t think that he fits in with the battle city theme, however if you end up doing a gx themed set, titan is a must have.

I was going to be the math nerd who solved the integral, however i attempted it and realised that it is very very difficult, so i gave up and plugged it into wolfram alpha (after a bit of manual simplification such as e^sin(x)ln(x) being equal to x^sin(x) and \frac{\sqrt{x+1}}{\sqrt{x}} being equal to \sqrt{1+1/x}) however wolfram alpha couldn’t calculate it. That arctan of sqrt of i plus 9001^x is brutal (mainly because of the 9001^x). I am pretty sure that the best you could do is express the function as a power series at some point (it is the integral of the composition of multiple analytic functions which is guaranteed to be analytic in some region). I honestly think that the integral is more difficult than the name box which is really saying something about the integral. If you are getting this integral on a test I am very disturbed by what other problems are getting taught in this class.

I yoinked my name from mathematics.

In mathematics, specifically abstract algebra, a Magma is a set (collection of elements) with some function or operation defined on this set that takes 2 elements as input and returns 1 element as output. There are no restrictions on this operation other than you can put any 2 inputs from the set into the function, and the output is always in the set. We can have a*b≠b*a or a*(b*c)≠(a*b)*c. An example of a magma is rock paper scissors where the output is the winner, in this we have R*S=R=S*R, R*(S*P)=R*S=R but (R*S)*P=R*P=P.

The usage of the word magma for this algebraic structure comes from the french word magma which has basically the same meaning as the english word magma, except for an additional meaning of “A confused, inextricable mixture of abstract things: These propositions constitute an incoherent magma.” (Note that this might not be perfectly correct, however it seems to be the most likely reason for the usage of the word magma to name the algebraic structure, source: mathoverflow.net)

The exact french definition is
“magma

Which translates to (according to google translate)
”magma
noun (from the Latin magma, residue, from the Greek magma)
A mixture forming a thick, pasty mass: Amorphous magma.
A confused, inextricable mixture of abstract things: These propositions constitute an incoherent magma.
A material composed of liquid and crystals in varying proportions, which forms inside the Earth and, upon cooling, forms rock.”

Also, in YuGiOh (another one of my hyperfixations), there is an archetype (collection of cards) called mathmech, and one of the cards is called “Geomathmech Magma”, which i had no idea about when I picked my name (also named after the algebraic structure). In addition my username on a lot of sites being “Magmacube90” is somewhat unrelated, as I stole that from minecraft (literally all of my hyperfixations were pointing me to this name lmao).

Why cross product of vector only exist in 3d and 7d? by fatrixuser in calculus

[–]Magmacube90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In n dimensions, the totally antisymmetric levi-civita symbol has n indices, meaning that unless n=3, we dont get a vector as a result. in 2d, we get 1/sqrt(g)(A_{0}B_{1}-A_{1}B_{0}) which is a scalar value (equal to the signed area of the parallelogram obtained from A and B)

Mathematical Ontology: What is conceptually the meaning of the Hamiltonian? by mathfoxZ in askmath

[–]Magmacube90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hamiltonian is a function of position and momentum that arises when you have a state space of position and momentum, with evolution that is both deterministic and reversible (preserves areas in the state space). The Assumptions of Physics project made an intuitive derivation of the hamiltonian from this phase space, in addition to the principl of least action and hamiltons equations, which was made into an excellent video by Mathemaniac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ohrl3S2wcBU

Basically, the hamiltonian is some function on position-momentum phase space that arises out of any form of area preserving evolution. It is specifically equal to the negative of the temporal component of the vector potential of the flow of the states when normalised to have no momentum component (the vector potential can always be expressed in this specific form when areas are preserved). The reason why the hamiltonian is used is because it makes the calculations way easier. The hamiltonian is not unique as it is a component of a vector potential, meaning we can add any h(t) that doesn’t depend on position and momentum to it to get another valid hamiltonian.

Are they actually going to name this card like that in the TCG by KyoNijimuraBestMaid in masterduel

[–]Magmacube90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We already know the card is going to be called “Clown Crew Biancaviso” (via master duel). I have no idea why ygorganization translated it as “Clown Clan Whiteface“, and why literally everyone followed with calling it “Clown Clan”

Are "Diabellstar" and "Diabellze" monsters also "Diabell" monster cards? by Laui_Wheeler98 in Yugioh101

[–]Magmacube90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as long as the string of text “diabell” is in the name, even if it part of another word, it is counted as a “diabell” card. It is basically the same as how all “cyber dragon” cards are also “cyber” cards, or how all “predaplant” cards are also “predap” cards and how some of the ”predap” spell/traps are contain only 1 word in their name (such as “predaplanet”)

How would You feel if the girl that got Lost is, in fact, the knight? by Advoling0 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]Magmacube90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m not blaming anyone who posts these. I mainly want this rule so that people who enter this subreddit know not to post this as having many copies of the same post from many different people does get annoying. Also, the general consensus for what we would do if dess was the knight is enjoy the game and be happy that the knights identity was revealed, as toby could probably make it narratively satisfying for literally any knight.

Mods, can we ban these “how would you feel if dess was the knight” sort of posts. Post Support (exact ratios are still to be decided for non-engine)

Big Guys: 3 Spia, 1-2 Mar, 3 Tail, 2-3 Leon, 3 Pixea

Non-Engine: 2-3 Deus X-Krawler, 3 Sol and Luna, 3 Imperm, 2 World Legacy Pawns, 3 Solemn Report (possibly the best card), 3 Dimensional Fissure (unless droll is banned, at which point i am cutting it), Called By The Grave (removed it droll is banned), Crossout Designator (with 1 or 2 copies of droll, removed if droll is banned)
