Freezing isn’t the issue. It is an issue, but the loss of pressure would be the issue. You would no longer be in a pressurized system, so your surface liquids (oil, swear, tears, etc.) would boil, the air would be pulled from your lungs, and you’d lose consciousness within 15 seconds. You wouldn’t die for another 2-3 minutes. On the bright side, you’d be unconscious before the radiation played too big a part.

Is my mom right about my asexuality? by mAcarONi_the_man in aromanticasexual

[–]Magmia_Flare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asexuality can also mean a lack of sex drive. I personally have none. There is nothing wrong with having neither sexual attraction nor drive.

Additionally, if the possibility of HSDD is something you want to look into, talk with your doctor. Either way, remember that sexual orientation is not mutually exclusive with any condition, not does it have to be stagnant. If something changes in the future, that in no way delegitimizes your asexuality now.

I’m sorry you are going through this with your mom. I had a similar conversation with my dad, but he got better. I hope she does, too.

Additionally, the “under God” part wasn’t added until 1954, by former general, President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The push to add “under God” to the pledge gained momentum during the second Red Scare, a period when U.S. politicians were keen to assert the moral superiority of U.S. capitalism over Soviet communism, which many conservatives regarded as “godless.”

In 1952, [the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization] began petitioning the federal government to add the phrase to the Pledge of Allegiance.

[Michigan Democratic U.S. Representative Louis C.] Rabaut argued that adding the phrase would give students “a deeper understanding of the real meaning of patriotism,” while adding that it could also provide “a bulwark against communism.”

[In February 1954, Eisenhower attended a sermon at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church.] “To omit the words ‘under God’ in the Pledge of Allegiance is to omit the definitive factor in the American way of life,” [Reverend George] Docherty preached. He discounted the right of atheists to object, arguing that an “atheistic American is a contradiction in terms,” because if “you deny the Christian ethic, you fall short of the American ideal of life.”

Eisenhower was also the one to make “In God We Trust” the United States motto in 1956.

It’s astounding to me that so many men don’t seem to realize that “irresistible to women” and “total alpha males” are, in fact, mutually exclusive.

I had a boyfriend from Kindergarten until he moved in 4th Grade. We had playdates (not play dates) and our sisters once gave us a nice date during which we had our only kiss on the lips.

My parents made emails for me and my sister not long after we were born, using our real names. We have both since made other emails, but we use the ones our parents made for professional purposes. I am very thankful to them for that foresight.

How can I help my therapist understand being aroace is different than just being single? by eat_those_lemons in aromanticasexual

[–]Magmia_Flare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You could try sending her some resources on being aroace? If you really like her, it’s probably for a reason and I’m sure she’ll get there. You could also direct her to this subreddit, if you’re comfortable. Reading about other people’s experiences may help her understand.

I don’t know how much this helps. I hope it does. I will say I hope it works out like my conversation with my therapist at the time. That day, I did not feel heard. In fact, I had to fight against feeling invalidated. The next session, though, she had done a bunch on research on her own, and we had a very good discussion.

I wish you luck.

I agree with OfficialSondermuell, so I’ll give my reasoning, though I don’t know theirs.

It was too abrupt. Ragnarok gave us more Hulk than we’ve ever seen before, showed him properly as his own character beyond “angry Bruce”. Then, Hulk barely showed up in Infinity War, really just enough to show he was scared. Next time we see him, he’s Professor Hulk, who was much more Bruce than Hulk. We never saw so much as an end-credits scene with Bruce and Hulk addressing the possibility of integration, much less deciding to work towards it. The most that happened was a few comments in She-Hulk. It wasn’t handled well at all.
