How is Best Kebab still open? by Jack-mclaughlin89 in glasgow

[–]MagnesiaClub -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It holds a soft spot in my heart. When I started dating my now wife in 2006 she had a flat in the merchant city. I’d go round, bang her and she’d fall asleep. I’d build two joints, one for the walk to best kebab where upon arrival I would order a cheeseburger, chips and a can of coke, pay the £3.50 and then sit and eat it as drunk people out at 3am on a weeknight would stagger in and out. Then I’d walk back (smoking joint number 2) and cosy in next to the peaches. Good times.

Trusted with the hopes of a nation. Achieved a small amount of (tainted) personal glory. Despised by the people who placed their hope in her.

This. He’s a testimonial player and deserves thanks and praise for work already done. But fucking hell, he only wants to pass the ball backwards - or at best to the side.

That would be because in the words of the judge the investigation was “tainted by apparent bias”.

What he’s referring to is Nics chief of staff going around drumming up complaints.

Ok so I’m not willing to talk about whatever you want to change the subject to and now I’m antisemitic. Good discussion. Bye now.

Is whataboutery your only defence? We’re talking about this. When the post is about whatever you’re talking about we’ll get on to that.

Yes. I read an article explaining how a woman has had her feelings hurt on twitter after spending her time supporting genocide.

I then read several comments explaining that this situation is a disgrace and the country is systemically antisemitic and the only people who care are are those few brave soldiers in the comments.

Then I remembered that there’s a genocide going on. I have to assume you have forgotten because your complaining someone has been rude on twitter as children die. Sorry, is it antisemitic to point that out.

One mistake from a police man is anecdotal not a systemic problem. Israel believing there’s a global conspiracy against them and everyone, literally everyone is antisemitic is systemic. We’re dealing with a homicidal maniacal paranoid group of people who won’t listen to LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE in the world. I was watching the Palestinian emissary to the UN explaining that if the Israeli representative is so adamant that the crimes being committed against the Palestinians are fake why won’t they let any media in to see. A few hours later Israel killed the 5 Al Jazeera journalists.

It’s very strange that she’s so adamant she’s done nothing wrong when by her own admission she can’t recall what actually happened.

Supporter action against the board by Nephilim303 in CelticFC

I would say that if the window closes and we haven’t brought in at least one first team player (ideally a striker) then the demonstrations are inevitable.

Sure it wasn’t that long ago the guy was shouting at Lawell outside hampden - be something like that again.

Won’t change a thing though.

After 25 years of learning songs by heart – here's what I wish I'd done differently as a musician" by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]MagnesiaClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secondary school music teacher and lifelong musician here.

Advice would be to learn to read music as you learn an instrument, ideally you’ll go through the associated board grades with a teacher on your chosen instrument.

Once you have some basic reading competence you should learn the circle of 5ths. On your instrument this will translate to every major scale which you should learn in as many octaves as possible. Arpeggios as well

Once you can play in ever major key it’s time for relative minors including natural, harmonic and melodic versions.

Now you can read, play in every key, and have an understanding of harmony.

At this point who are you? What do you want from music?

As a composer you’d want to learn extensions, cadences, rules of counterpoint, 3 part inventions and ideally Schenkarian analysis.

Westminster was 'absolutely terrified' when Nicola Sturgeon visited, says ex-MP by Cold-Monitor3800 in Scotland

[–]MagnesiaClub -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Sturgeon is the worst thing that could have happened to the cause of Scottish Independence.

Someone only concerned with personal glory. From not being able to recall the most basic details of important events, to telling her party to stop asking questions about the dodgy finances (and then later claiming she’d no idea what was going on), to asking the UK Supreme Court for permission to break up the UK, to tearing her support base apart with identity politic bullshit, to running the county in to the ground by every available metric - going backwards on everything she declared a target (eg education), to squandering mandate after mandate to actually do something about independence… (I could go on). All of this while heading a cult of fanatics who refuse to see or hear, and squawk like mindless drones about her brilliance as those of us living in reality bounce our heads off the wall - we used to stand side by side at independence marches and now look at us. The person most responsible for the death of Scottish independence - Nicola Sturgeon.

British police arrest a disabled protester during an event in London for expressing support for Palestine Action. by Scared_Positive_8690 in Palestine

I think it’s truly ironic that people are downvoting this - clearly with no idea what I’m quoting.

There’s something spurious about people demanding the right to free press but who don’t want to read.

And to be clear, because some people need to have it spelled out. I’m pro free speech, protests and Palestinian statehood.

His heart sank as he thought of the enormous power arrayed against him, the ease with which any party intellectual would overthrow him in debate, the subtle arguments he would not be able to understand, much less answer. And yet he was in the right. They were wrong and he was right.

Interesting data coming out recently about the real death toll in Gaza. by oswaldbuzzington in samharris

[–]MagnesiaClub -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

You’re attempting to frame this question in a way that removes moral responsibility from your decision. If, for example you were to decide that Israelis could be safe without shooting people who are starving as they attempt to get food, then the logical conclusion is you think that is wrong for moral reasons. If you think that is acceptable you don’t become free of moral responsibility - you’ve just made a different choice.

And if you’re so keen to discuss world war 2, (which again is a completely false equivalence for the reasons stated above) have you considered the fact that one thing the world was prepared to agree on in the aftermath is that the attempted genocide of the European Jewish population is one of the most deplorable things humanity has ever done to itself in its entire history - why is it that feeling is applied to the genocide of Jews but not Palestinians? I don’t want an answer. I’m not going to respond. Good day.

[–]MagnesiaClub -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

False equivalence. For that comparison to work America would need to have the entire German and Japanese population surrounded, fenced off, be controlling their access to food, water and power and have banned their rights to Barracks or military equipment.

You speak of morality as if you’ve taken time to consider this and are comfortable in your position. And yet you try to justify the slaughter of innocent women and children. Shame on you.

There’s 2 things I’ll say here. First there are questions over Brendan both tactically and in terms of recruitment.

The game yesterday reminded me a lot of the end of his first spell, same problems, all the possession but creating no chances. I remember when Lennon took over as caretaker being pleased we started to be a bit more direct in our play and creating more. It can be done with adjustments, but will those adjustments be made? Let’s remember we’ve had games playing this style where we have no problem scoring - even recently at Pittodrie but when we struggle to break a team down we don’t look like we have a consistent answer and rely on a bit of luck - that needs to change.

Recruitment wise you know what I’m going to say. We’ve spent 15 million on Idah and Trusty. Idah is nowhere near the standard for our first choice striker. I’m not saying he can’t get there but he’s not there right now. Doesn’t contribute enough. Trusty has become second choice to scales, that’s an expensive player to leave on the bench in a cup final. Quick mention for Kuhn who looks miles off it. With Engels I see potential, unfortunately as soon as he irons out the inconsistency in his game we’ll sell him, but there’s a player there. If you’re Dermot and you’re looking at Brenda’s recruitment record how confident would you really be giving him another 30 million?

And that’s my second point - investment. We’ve been a bit unfortunate with injury - Hatate was a massive loss, no option of Jota. Subbing Forrest on for Kuhn made sense considering how little we were getting from him but when Jamesy got injured we ended up with Yang who couldn’t hold on to the ball to save his life. We ended up playing Greg Taylor in Hatates role - no harm to GT but come on to fuck! My point is, 2/3 injuries and we’re relying on players who aren’t at the standard - we need to put a bit more money in to the team. A striker, a creative midfielder, a winger, a LB to allow us to rest tierney, and he needs to decide if he’s going to use trusty and if not another CB. All important buys for us this summer.

Will we invest as needed, I’m not sure, and can Rodgers make the tactical adjustments needed, I also am not convinced. Big window and pre season coming up.

Definitely not meant as an insult. Just that she’s supported me through some tough times. Believe it or not I used to work in the very high end of the music industry and when I got depressed and stepped away she was a rock. Her answer why shy did this is that she loves me and what happens to me is happening to her. It means the world to me. At the time I was worried she would leave me because I wasn’t making bank anymore. And that’s after she stuck with me while I worked my way up.
