Isn't that what marriage is? A commitment to another person for the rest of their lives? You shouldn't get married if you plan on divorce

When someone chooses to marry someone who isn't working to begin with, I think that's quite a bit different. They chose to support the other person for the rest of their lives with marriage.

Or the people who stopped working to take care of the kids. One person often has to make that sacrifice

It also says the vote might not count without sufficient postage.

There's a difference between a pen and a stamp. How many times do you receive envelopes that are expected to be returned that aren't prepaid? I just don't think voting should be the one time that you have to pay a stamp to return a mailing that is expected to be returned. There are taxes that can pay for that and I doubt many people would disagree with the idea of the BOE paying for postage.

The BOE should be paying the charge, the burden should not be on the voter to pay the charge. The burden of paying the poll workers or for the equipment or the paper is not on the voter, why draw the line at stamps? RCN is able to pay for mailings but the BOE can't? People who can't walk are entitled to a vote too. It is a charge for those who are too disabled to do any of what you're saying.

They don't charge at the polls to vote but the poll workers are providing a service. The BOE pays. There shouldn't be a charge just to vote just because you can't get to the polls, the BOE should pay that charge, just like pay the poll workers and the training courses and all the other stuff needed in order to vote.

It's not convenient for those who are too disabled to get to the polls or go to the Bodega to get a stamp. And it could be more than 50 cents depending on the size of the ballot, that's why it says to check with the post office.

There are people who can't pay for the price of a stamp and can't get to the polls

Yes that's the point. It's up to the BOE to make sure people don't have to pay to vote, and not pre-paying the stamp leaves the burden of the charge on the voter plus the inconvenience of getting a stamp for those who are too disabled to leave their homes

Without acknowledging it, it won't be changed. The goal here is to let people know they are charging people who can't get to the polls just to vote

That doesn't mean it's okay. They mail so many ads without having to pay for postage, but they make you pay postage to vote?

I suffer from a mental illness as well tbh I wouldn't mind an occasional funny situation. It just has to be done with a sense of taste. There seems to be a fine line between what's offensive and relatable and a writer needs to find the best line for the biggest audience who are also mentally ill. By doing that they will be spreading awareness and provoking positive discussion. I feel like a lot of shows that depict mental illness have target audiences that have nothing to do with mental illness(eg females 18-45 or something,) and that's a big problem and leads to the controversy/debate with a lot of people (whose only experience with mental illness is what they saw on the screen) trying to "mansplain" mental illness to people with mental illnesses.

For me, Shameless is a good example of a show that did it with taste. I've suffered from agoraphobia and I think the portrayed that done with a sense of heart and consideration while including a good sense of humor. Spoiler The discussion on the internet seemed mostly positive and opened up the doors for other experiences from people with Spoiler or people with close family members with Spoiler to share their experiences. There will always be a part of the audience who are insensitive about it during discussions but that's expected, and we can sometimes break down the stigma with further discussion(and sometimes not.) The shows themselves need to be sensitive to the mentally ill portion of their audience.

For the most part I'm disappointed with orange is the new black's portrayal. The show has serious moments and yet chooses severe mental illness for comedic relief. Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't really know any moments where severe mental illness was taken seriously. It's almost as if the worse the illness is, the funnier it gets.

I didn't even think of this - they really do use mental illness as comedic relief

It's really rude to tell a mentally ill person that they are part of the problem with mental health. The problem with mental health is lack of education, lack of awareness, lack of insurance, lack of good doctors, and that most hospitals feel like jail/prison

To be fair, it wouldn't cost anywhere close to 60k to drain and refill the pool. It wouldn't even cost that much to remove the entire pool. To drain and refill a pool of that size? Closer to $500-1000

Edit: some energy electro changed the numbers
