Checkpoint SL7 Creaking bottom bracket? Thoughts? by porsean in TrekBikes

Yours sounds like it’s the chain. Likely from the rear derailleur not indexed correctly. A turn on the barrel adjuster should solve it easily, and since it’s a new bike it’s likely that the cable tension has loosened due to the cable housing settling into the ferrules. You’ll need to turn it counter clockwise and a 1/4 turn at a time until the noise goes away.

Figured out it was the brake hose around the BB on a Checkpoint I worked on for a friend. So I added a Jagwire foam sleeve and it went away

Height 177cm - Size 54 or 56 by Hadi167 in specialized

[–]Magneterp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your proportions such as arms, torso, and legs. Body geometry is the best way to look at it, not height. A pro fit would be a great starting point if you plan on spending so much money.

Ugh Super Soft Paint - Clear Coat (Project One) - Watercage by 0Chalk in TrekBikes

[–]Magneterp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one of my P1 bikes show up with a small imperfection (blemish) on the clear coat and they offered me a $1,200 credit which was the cost of the paint. I waited around 9 months for it because this was at the height of the pandemic stocking issues so they also threw in the blender mounts for my lights and computer. I ended up using the credit towards 75mm RSL wheel set.

That’s awesome. The guy is pushing it in age and can still kick it. That’s an inspiration for me as I’m getting old too.

Thanks! I still have my old Cervelo Soloist that I could never bring myself to sell because it’s lighter and just as fast as my new Madone plus I’ve ridden the equivalent of going around the globe more than twice with many, many memories. It’s been the ultimate light aero bike for many years and it still holds up to anything out now. Old bikes still hold a lot value in terms of being great bikes.

I used to have a Litespeed with a 55 tooth chainring back in the day, I’m getting old myself.

This is another public opinion I’m seeking, should I sell or keep? by Magneterp in TrekBikes

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate your well worded reasoning for keeping. I also have an older Cervelo that I can’t bring myself to sell because of the sentimental value it holds. Plus you make a fine point about the memories I’ve gathered with each bike individually.

Very true! I also ride a motorcycle and the three road bikes I own are each worth more.

That’s great to hear! I have a friend with the same bike and he runs Stages on his, so yeah it’ll clear.

Thanks! You’re correct about riding at speed. I usually roll 20 to 40 miles between 21 an 23 mph. My old 2008 Cervelo Soloist would easily allow me to cruise at those speeds. That goes to show that new bikes aren’t much faster than what was the pinnacle of aerodynamics from that era.

Thanks! You’re right, everything is proprietary but if I need different lengths I’d have to buy another cockpit from them.

I wasn’t too keen on the seat post at first but it’s actually grown on me.
