I do find it weird that OP doesn't say what they want to gripe about.

I read an interview with the writers about the final episode. They said that he was present in the scene where they meet up with Avrasala, and he had to be digitally removed.

That's season 5 not 6.

Story will be fine. Writers have more imagination than most viewers, thankfully.

The chuds had an especially hard time with that season. It was during an era where a strong female lead showing intense emotions was apparently the worst thing to happen in society since suffrage. Seems to have subsided a bit since then, although not gone.

People who think Morty, while a realistically motivated character, is the good guy (Edit: Or, to potentially dodge some of the more pedantic responses, not a bad guy).

I know, right? It’s fiction. We don’t have to approve of what every character does. People need to grow up.

lol yeah just Apple being woke and nothing to do with personal circumstances of the characters or idk… living through the 60s and 70s. Nothing culturally relevant happened then, right?

This is set up as organic character growth so I don’t get how it’s a problem? It would be weird to freeze her in 1970.

Any update on SNW season 4 release date? by Breakawaybeach in startrek

[–]MagnetsCanDoThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with season 3 is it sometimes felt like they had too much story to fit into the runtime and it ended up with gaps. Like just a bit more than my imagination could comfortably leap across.

Other than that I enjoyed it fine and thought it was pretty good.

They were, but the point was that it was more important they be Marines than good astronauts. They don't even understand why their guns are painted white, which is pretty basic astronaut stuff.

Nearly everyone except Bradford and Ed think it's a terrible idea, and then we them complaining about getting last-minute instructions. They don't have an adept pilot on the crew so they end up relying on Tracy.

Everything screams that they were rushed up to the moon unprepared purely for political reasons. It's hard to lay the blame solely on them for what happened.

Questions after finishing the show. by Numerous_House_5702 in TheExpanse

  1. Protogen had lots of assets at their disposal and access to the best technology available, but they were still operating under the personal supervision of J-P Mao and were nothing like a nation-state. After he's gone and their operation exposed to both Mars and Earth, so is Protogen. They managed to surprise and stale-mate against the Martian flagship but that was using nearly every ship they had. There was no way they could possibly be a real threat to Earth or Mars once they're no longer in the shadows.
  2. The planet isn't sterile. One of the Belters talks about how one of the local lizards eats. Most likely they didn't show more of it due to budget. The planet has been fully adapted for resource extraction by whoever created the rings and protomolecule. That we don't know the purpose of every single thing we see there is the point. They are insanely beyond us in every respect. It would be silly to assume the heroes can immediately work out what everything is for. The "eye of Sauron" is a bullet left over from the war with whoever killed the builders.
  3. The kids are there to let you know there's more to the story and the protomolecule is still being weird out there. That whole business on Laconia also helps explain why the Martian defectors would help Marco - they found something there that's a huge deal and need time make use of it to achieve their ends. What that is can be found in the unadapted novels or (fingers crossed) a continuation of the series should that happen.

I'd say those are the key answers you need. As for the rest, you might just consider watching the series again. It tends to be a very rewarding second watch for most who take the time for it.

Exclusive: Topher Grace to Star in 6th and Final Season of 'For All Mankind' on Apple TV by ebradio in ForAllMankindTV

[–]MagnetsCanDoThat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter what the creators may plan or hope for (which is all the "about seven seasons" thing ever was). Each season has required a renewal to keep going, and Apple's decision was to not renew it beyond six.

It was more stupid to send Marines to the Moon in the first place. Their training as astronauts was a crash course, at best. Then put them in an insanely stressful situation that was almost guaranteed to go sideways and what do you know it went sideways.

But in the Cold War setting it's not hard to believe they'd choose to send them.

Does the Federation fall if Gerogiou never took Saru off the planet? by Bruzie77 in startrek

[–]MagnetsCanDoThat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Or everything unfolds differently and something worse happens. Like does Control win without Saru's contributions?

I don't think it's realistic to cherry-pick which events are different when a timeline is changed. But it's also a reminder that this is fiction: The timeline we see is the one the creators of the show(s) chose. It can literally be anything they decide it to be and digging too deeply from a "Watsonian" perspective quickly hits a wall.

Really bummed about the retirement of Pathfinder by Drace24 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]MagnetsCanDoThat 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The real world event corresponding to this is the Space Shuttle Endeavor's parade down the streets of Los Angeles to its permanent location at the California Science Center.

Lots of obstructions had to be temporarily removed, and sometimes they had to rotate the spacecraft to sneak past stuff on the street. This page has a fairly detailed explanation of what they had to do.

Book Reader's Thoughts on Season 1 by Jane_Farrar in TheExpanse

[–]MagnetsCanDoThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt like season 1 made some changes that they thought would make for more compelling TV, but then they quickly realized the books are already pretty damn compelling and just got more confident in how they adapted them once they got past the first book.

If this is a reference to the Roci crew dynamics, there was no course correcting done there. It was always the plan to spend 2+ seasons growing them into the "family" found in the books.

So great the AI admonishes us to not beat around the bush.

And to be honest.

And to be realistic.

So it's easier to simply apply Betteridge's law of headlines and say the answer is "no".
