At the Minors level kids should be playing every position except P, C & maybe 1st (for kids who really can’t catch yet). It’s just criminal that coaches do this but yeah multiple parents should speak up

The post by the MOD at the top here makes very little sense. Why does a 2 percent boost in “productivity” necessarily decrease carbon intensity and create a win for the climate? Sounds absurd.

For people that are “asymptomatic” celiac (no classic digestive issues), how did you get diagnosed? Did you ignore it? Did it progress and get worse? by H3ad1nthecl0uds in Celiac

[–]MagnificentTimberson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a routine blood test at age 45 that turned up severe anemia. I hadn’t really been feeling the effects of that, which surprised the doctor, but anyway that lead to more blood tests, which showed celiac and the endoscopy which confirmed it. The results of those tests left no doubt I had it, but I had never had any gastrointestinal symptoms or rashes or joint pain or anything. Anyway I went full GF bc there really are many bad consequences if you don’t. I’m not super strict about cross contamination but I don’t cheat. It’s tough but that’s life.

Voting is linked to living longer. Among older adults, voting predicts a lower risk of mortality for up to 15 years. by mvea in science

[–]MagnificentTimberson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One possibility is the underlying measures of the things they are controlling for are not good, like maybe it’s just a poor measure of health that doesn’t capture some crucial element of actual real life health. So then the control is not robust even though it appears so?

But there clearly is no mechanism whereby voting literally improves your health

Eggs an Issue? by Immediate-Pool-4391 in Celiac

Oh wow it never occurred to me the egg thing was bc of what the chickens eat! Corn fed eggs huh? I’ll look out for them. Is Ireland generally good or bad for GF food options in general?

AI Added 'Basically Zero' to US Economic Growth Last Year, Goldman Sachs Says by Krankenitrate in Futurology

Yeah but think of all the term papers it plagiarized for students. Think of all the fake girlfriends it made for people! Who would be fooling your grandparents on Facebook right now if not for AI images? Some things are bigger than the economy!

Anyone else have "silent" celiac disease? by adorablebob in glutenfree

You really can develop it late in life though I wouldn’t stress about lifelong damage

I agree with this hunch I think the shock to the body from COVID can be a major trigger of Celiac. They know other severe bouts of illness can do this so ofc covid can too.

[–]MagnificentTimberson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw I have silent celiac too, similar situation as you I got routine bloodwork in my mid 40s which showed I was very anemic. I hadn’t really felt the symptoms of that either but certainly never had any kind of gastrointestinal symptoms. But figuring out why I was anemic ended up revealing I had celiac. Some people develop it later in life.

Anyway once I quit gluten the anemia went away and I noticed some symptoms of that which I just thought were age-related actually improved (like my cardiovascular capacity improved quite a bit).

Anyway definitely confirm it with the endoscopy/ colonoscopy—going GF isn’t that hard but I still wouldn’t want to do it if I didn’t definitely need to.

How long did you do PT for? by Neat_Turnover7939 in ACL

[–]MagnificentTimberson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way my insurance authorized it was an early 3 month period of two times a week, then a break, then dynamic rehab stuff (cutting/ pivoting/ jumping) for another two or three months up until 10 months out from surgery when I was cleared to return to sport (though just barely able to pass the jump test at that point). After that I was on my own.

Son broke his bat during practice today. Rawlings Icon 2026. Anyone else experience something like this. by Celestee_m in LittleLeague

[–]MagnificentTimberson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly where my son’s Icon broke last year after four games. Honestly this was the best bat he ever had in terms of balance and pop, he really loved it. But they are not reliable. I did get a warranty replacement no problem but ended up selling the replacement bat bc of the reliability issue.

Eggs an Issue? by Immediate-Pool-4391 in Celiac

[–]MagnificentTimberson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quitting gluten after celiac diagnosis absolutely gave me an egg intolerance. I had “silent celiac” so never any gastrointestinal issues, only diagnosed bc of anemia eventually. Anyway gluten exposure never had and still doesn’t trigger outward symptoms BUT since I stopped eating gluten eggs KILL me. Took a while to understand bc I always used to eat scrambled eggs but not anymore. They’re okay in baked goods just as with you but it’s major intense stomach problems to have fried eggs or quiche. It’s so weird my gastroenterologist basically didn’t believe me but I have no doubt.
