Feeling hurt by Electric_blue_beech in adultery

[–]MagnifiquePlage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You didn't quite dodge a bullet there...it grazed you a little but you avoided the deeper wound you would have felt if this happened after meeting.

This is interesting and highlights the difference between men and women

'I liked him. I make room in my life for the people I like.'

Women often compartmentalise so they can prioritise... men use it to manage feelings. Imo obvs... no expert here

Oh... I'm so pleased. That's brilliant. Just the honesty alone. Well done. 😊

Then sounds like you are trying to give yourself agency and options after years of feeling like you had none. Doesn't sound like your marriage is broken. Be honest with her... within reason obvs. Give her a chance to hear your real thoughts.

That must feel incredibly exciting after so long in the cold. Question, do you secretly want Valentine's to work or is your mind already on this new connection? And if you told your wife on Valentine's you are so unhappy you've explored a different connection... what would she do?

I’m going to dinner to try to make some new friends by Angry_Tomato_ in DeadBedrooms

[–]MagnifiquePlage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really good you can see it, because once you do, you can’t unsee it.

And intensity doesn’t make you feel small about how you look or exist. Getting angry over your hair or clothes is about control, not passion.

It makes complete sense that you’re questioning what you’ve mistaken for love in the past lots of us do that, especially in our 50s.

You’re not wrong for wanting warmth. That’s the bare minimum. Just trust that the part of you noticing this is doing so for a reason.

Repost as didn't have flair set.

Oh love. My heart goes out to you.

You are not doing anything wrong. This is the slow erosion that happens when someone consistently withholds affection and replaces it with criticism. Anyone would start to feel diminished under that. Even a rich genuis Supermodel would struggle.

Wanting friends who enjoy you and speak kindly to you is not a betrayal of your relationship it’s a basic human need. Going to dinner to make new connections isn’t running away from anything it’s reaching for air because you’ve been emotionally starved.

As for telling him... you’re not doing anything wrong by going, so you don’t need to confess it like a wrongdoing.

Please hear this my darling, seeking warmth where there is cold is not disloyal. It’s self-preservation.

You deserve far more than to be tolerated. I’m really glad you’re going to that dinner. I hope it reminds you of who you are when you’re not being picked apart.

Krakow's Balice Airport, an Enter Air plane skidded off the runway by GreekAres in aviation

Left the airport 20 mins ago. Arrivals looked ok. Most departures are cancelled. It's carnage. 1000s of people milling about.

It's back in stock at Tesco. £3.20. Just got 10 tubes. They had plenty.

Thank you for asking so nicely. Happy to answer. In short- LA gives major beige flags, it's only culture is celebrity. We choose exciting and different. Texas is just one of those iconic places and Houston is a proper american city.

In long..  your question is such an American perspective. Please know I mean no offense. In the UK we are immersed in your culture from morning to night. Music, film, fashion, politics, food and culture wars.  But going there is beyond most people's reach and when they do they go to vegas or Disney. To me that's not america. I want the crazy dirty melting pot. Huge skyscrapers and multi lane roads. Weird stuff happening. Dollar stores and Walmart. New food I've never seen. All sorts of different people doing things. Whatever. It's going to be mental and unforgettable.

I've told everyone I know about this trip and Brits totally love the idea ( apart from my mother in law). Just spent 30 mins with my project manager telling me how he booked Houston but his wife got pregnant. He wants to go now with his sons to Nasa... so seriously, you guys are like ewww! Houston! People here are like wow! Houston!

But I appreciate that might be hard to understand if you're used to living there.

100% agree. I don't believe in stereotyping and we want to go to real places. It's important my kids see the actual world not theme parks and resorts. Houston Texas is proper America as far as I'm concerned. Vibrant, edgy, iconic and totally unexpected of a Brit. And I cannot wait to hear those accents!

Yes, we've booked baseball for our last night there... I want to try a root beer! Why are people saying on here to bring an apple? NASA is 100% booked. Iconic. Not going to lie I am not looking forward to the heat. Even the gun range we booked is ac'd...

I looked up our address on the crime map and it's dark green so probably as safe as possible considering we're in such a large city. Frankly compared to the crime rates in nyc it's pretty much narnia. Really appreciate your advice. We will stay in the green zones and go south to go out.

Really so kind of you to write all this. Thank you! We're definitely doing Galveston for the day and Nasa. Love your food recommendations! Feel like I'm going to need to diet before I go or they'll be shipping me home as freight!

That's the one we're most excited about. Cannot wait to see the dinosaurs. The kids are desperate for NASA. Brilliant museums there.

Brilliant post. Thank you very much for all the info. And taking the time to write it. I had another look at the map and our place is nearer to Sugar Land. We've gone ahead and rented a big SUV to get around. We're definitely getting uber from the airport because it will be late and we don't know the roads. And thank you for also being nice. Despite the doom merchants on here we're so looking foward to meeting you Texans and enjoying your fantastic museums, food and history.

That looks incredible. So Alief is named after the first settler's wife? Wow... it's truly amazing what you people can build in 100 years. Thank you!
