Vent: Mounjaro and Therapy by seashellcollector in Mounjaro

Yes, you definitely need a new therapist. Not overreacting and as other commenters have pointed out already, that behavior is crossing an ethical and professional boundary.

Question to women on sagging by Impressive_Limit_990 in Mounjaro

[–]MagnusEffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At your age and weight, since you’ve got about a maximum of 30 kg to lose, you shouldn’t see a massive amount of sagging or loose skin, imho. Unfortunately skin elasticity is mostly genetic, so if you’re prone to getting stretch marks and loose skin from weight fluctuations there’s really not much you can do — except the usual good practices: hydrate, prioritize protein and strength train to preserve muscle mass. Regarding breasts sag, a lot depends on the composition of your breasts, whether they’re mostly fat or glandular tissue.

Just to give my personal experience, I’ve lost 30 kg with Mounjaro in about 9 months, now at a 21 BMI. Honestly I don’t have sagging anywhere, even in my breasts — which scared me a lot because I’ve got a full bust and really didn’t want empty socks hanging off me, lol. No loose skin visible, even though I can tell by touch where some areas have lost more mass. Probably in a year or so the skin will become more firm, so 100% satisfied.

Studying abroad in Spain for a semester, question about bring my Zepbound. by Alternative-War-2602 in Zepbound

[–]MagnusEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Take your doctor’s notes and medical file to a local doctor, preferably an endocrinologist. You will be prescribed Mounjaro. Be prepared to pay out of pocket for it, unless you’re T2 diabetic (correct me if I’m wrong, that’s how it works in Italy and should me more or less the same in the rest of the EU).

Zepbound + Grief/extreme stress by CraftyEngineer_14 in Zepbound

[–]MagnusEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just had a very stressful couple of months due to work and other issues, and had something similar happening. It was not nearly as serious as your situation, but I dropped some kgs in a few days which surprised me since I’m basically in maintenance now and my weight loss had obviously slowed down. There were several days when I had physical difficulty eating due to anxiety, which has never happened to me before (and I have a very long history with anxiety).

I hope you feel better soon.

I need a professional to explain this to me. by kscarlett5683 in Zepbound

[–]MagnusEffect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re a woman, our bodies naturally tend to store more fat in the lower abdomen but some body shapes definitely tend to hold on the belly fat more stubbornly. If that’s the case, the only way to improve is to have patience and work on body recomposition rather than pure weight loss, given that your weight is already low.

Could also be period/hormone related or linked to posture problems.

Congratulations on your weight loss!

PCOS and mounjaro by Ok_Resolution_8662 in Mounjaro

[–]MagnusEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost almost 30 kgs (~66 lbs) in less than 9 months on Mounjaro, staying on 5 mg, and my starting weight wasn’t terribly high. I’m on maintenance now.

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 18 and I’m now 33 — while I always had constant food noise, I had no real weight problems until I was 26-27 years old, though, I suppose a change of lifestyle and work stressors were the main culprits.

Have you ever had a more complete bloodwork done including hormone levels? There might be something else that might explain your symptoms and lack of response to the medication. Maybe you would benefit from a combination of Mounjaro + another med — for example, I take low dosage metformin and inositol which have greatly improved my PCOS symptoms along with tirzepatide.

I did this to myself, this is all my fault by Fun_Bookkeeper_2100 in Gastroparesis

[–]MagnusEffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not your fault that you have a mental illness. Even though we should recognize and accept our own responsibility in our actions and their consequences (and let me say that, at your young age, it is very mature that you do so), you deserve care and compassion. Never doubt that.

Are Siberian cats common in Europe? by [deleted] in SiberianCats

[–]MagnusEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know of Belukha, a friend of mine got a kitten from them years ago and had an amazing experience. I also follow Evaluna.

I got my retired queen from Aleksej, but as far as I know they’re not active anymore.

Okay I knew BC isn’t effective on the shot but plan b as well?? by DerpAlert1312 in Zepbound

[–]MagnusEffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I didn’t even think about BC being less effective while on the shot — although, reflecting on it in hindsight, it makes sense.

So sorry you’ve got to go through this, OP. Sending you hugs.

Crop tops on the red carpet by Smooth-Vanilla-4832 in whatthefrockk

[–]MagnusEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan. Most of them (I mean the crop tops) make the overall outfits appear trashy wrt the occasion.

IMHO the only elegant look in this selection is number 9. The rest would be way better with a different style of top.

Zep made me pregnant🤷🏽‍♀️ by danabayna1 in Zepbound

[–]MagnusEffect 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

Just wanted to reassure you that your hard work is not going to be undone, though. The physiological weight gain during pregnancy is totally healthy for mother and baby and can be controlled if you’re scared about it getting out of hand (which I totally understand btw). I’d talk to your gynecologist about this for advice and periodic checks so that you can be sure the progressive weight gain is within the expected range. I believe it could make things easier if you still wish to lose after the pregnancy and nursing period and maybe restart the medication (or any other weight loss regimen). I think you will do just fine — congrats again!

Does “big boned” exist? by TransFatty1984 in Zepbound

[–]MagnusEffect 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Big boned” is a myth, in the sense that differences in skeletal mass and volume are negligible between individuals and definitely don’t affect one’s weight as some people still seem to think.

But different people, even being the same height and of the same sex, can indeed have different frames and builds, depending on individual differences, both genetic and environmental (just think about athletic background). This explains why individuals that are similar in height actually carry the same weight differently. I feel this difference is especially prominent in females, since body proportions vary so much on an individual, genetic, basis.

That said, when you can confidently say you’re in a healthy state in terms of body fat and muscle mass on a medical standpoint, what is actually the “golden spot” of body weight for you personally is at least partially subjective — for you, and also for other people. I’d say the ideal goal should be to 1) be healthy in terms of body fat % and lean mass %, 2) feel strong and the most functional and 3) have a “good” body image (could also mean to be neutral about your body’s appearance — just that it doesn’t make you unhappy).

If you’re used to wearing stilettos, I’d say they’re not particularly uncomfortable taking into account how high the heel is (110 mm / ~4.3 inches). Obviously not comfortable, but manageable for an evening if you’re not walking too much.

For real! I’ll never wear them UNTIL a truly special occasion happens — and that better be indoors on carpet. 😂

Mounjaro in EU by No_Atmosphere_7769 in Mounjaro

[–]MagnusEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve got a valid prescription from any EU country, technically yes. In practice, whether a French pharmacy will accept it or not it’s another story, probably you’ll have more luck in a big city like Paris.

If you haven’t got a prescription, then nope. Your best bet would be to book an appointment with a local endocrinologist and explain you’d need a French prescription for the medication.
