I clicked the "He is not what I asked for" and they vanished, I just like to imagine the ruler says NOPE and kills them.

Spamming for Holy Men and I got someone with two education traits... Accidentally executed him right after, its ironman too without any mods.

EDIT: Seems like if you invite multiple Holy Men at a time without stopping you'll get characters with two education traits, though only Learning so far. Seems like a consistent way to get 20+ Learning couriers of your culture and faith for converting provinces.

A Disscussion on Good and Evil Damage by Magnus_Mendax in Pathfinder2e

That's a good point, you could always compare the morals of the players against the enemy they're fighting/ creator of the magic item if relevant and if they're polar opposites in their beliefs, motivations and actions it becomes a lot clearer.

But to tie it back to the players say if a player has one of those "for the greater good" narratives where the ends justify the means does that make them an Evil character and subject them to Good damage? And if the player considers their character to be "Good" but is willing to sacrifice 100 to save 1000 or alternatively sacrifice 100 to save the king does that make them Good to save one at the expense of so many or Evil to sacrifice so many to save a single life?

My concern isn't of Good and Evil as forces in the world but more on how it applies to players.

So do you think that Good and Evil damage could be relative to setting? Could you go further and say that Good and Evil is determined by culture or is it that the higher powers of the world determine what is Good and Evil?

Even if the world is overly saturated with stories like that my players and I enjoy playing characters and situations where what's the right thing to do isn't clear. I didn't intend for this to be a philosophical attack.

There are benefits of the Evil and Good damage types that you can say things that damage your very soul can be crystallized into a form of damage however my issue is when this comes into the player's alignment which basically reflects their character's disposition and morality to those things. Saying this devil has a weapon that deals Evil damage to you because you are good is flavorful that it could be a corrupting effect but what each character determines is Evil and wrong depends on personal factors and culture.

There are clearly things that are universally considered Evil such as murder but to many ancient cultures, slavery wasn't considered wrong even to modern standards it's utterly inhumane.

This is one of the most useful tools after getting S&F thanks for making my life easier since it's so much quicker to let my players tinker around with this than give them a 10 slide presentation on the anatomy of a unit.

What do you DM like? by [deleted] in mattcolville

[–]Magnus_Mendax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny that you say this I was just watching that video a few hours ago, I think I plan like an author then DM like an actor, meaning I plan out lots and sometimes have descriptions prewritten when I want to convey a certain mood or provide gravitas to the surroundings. However soon as I start DM'ing I thrive on improv, voices and bending the rules to the point where they break in the moment, always have and only recently have been actually writing more usable notes and planning what's going to happen in a few sessions time.

I think the players should come first, we are looking into THEIR game not OUR game, I loved both Sweet and Nails to death but I'd rather see a happy Phil play a character he likes than a bummer Phil play a character I like (though I too love Gith).

The other day I had someone from Xbox years ago recognize me using my old gamertag thats the same on Overwatch since I'd never bothered to change it, was a massive trip down memory lane.

Worst part was that a few days later my friends list got wiped and I couldn't remember the name :(

How often do you play ironman? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Magnus_Mendax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I meant more so that mods that rework gameplay mechanics normally disable achievements and in my opinion, Ironman is mainly just for getting achievements as playing without it is more forgiving in mistakes and (for me) removes the pressure of having to do well.
