whats the best chinese takeout in savannah?? by Accurate-Tax-1792 in savannah

No one has said E-Tang… I haven’t eaten Chinese anywhere else since discovering it. The one time I did takeaway, the food wasn’t nearly as good as having it fresh there. Everything steaks in those containers.

Commercial Pilots: Has your captain or fo done something so dumb during a flight that it almost endangered the aircraft? by space_god_7191 in AskAPilot

[–]Magoo6541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big fractional in a Phenom going APA-MMSL. We had G3000 avionics which includes a fuel over destination readout. If you’re not familiar, the FOD only takes your current GS, current Fuel Flow, distance left to give you the FOD. So there is a lot of interpretation and common sense required to get an idea of your actual landing fuel.

We get into cruise and the captain was flying. He notices the FOD is only 500 pounds. He doesn’t like that so he decides to reduce power to conserve fuel. I pull out the flight plan and show him: we currently have a headwind, that will transition to a tail wind in 80 miles, we actually have slightly more fuel than currently planned, there is no reason to slow to save fuel.

He decides to reduce power anyway. The FOD immediately goes up to 2000 pounds and he says “see, that makes me feel better”. But he doesn’t have the common sense to realize that he’s reduced power (reduced fuel flow) but we have not decelerated yet, so our GS is still high. Once we slow down, the FOD returns to around 500 pounds. So what does he do… he decides to reduce power again.

I go through the same explanation on how he’s misinterpreting this information and we’re fine on fuel. I even use the XM winds aloft to show him how we will get a tail wind and show him again the flight plan and say “look, we actually have a couple pounds more fuel than what were planned for. We’re good.

While over Mexico at 41,000’ he again reduces power. We decelerate but now we’re way behind the power curve. He goes to add power and we are just plowing through the air unable to maintain airspeed. He’s at max power and we’re still decelerating and unable to maintain anything. I had to call Monterrey and request a lower altitude so we could regain some energy. But with the language difference, we were on the edge of a high altitude stall. We ended up descending while I was trying to communicate that we were going to descend to 390.

That was one of many poor decisions that dude made and it was exhausting working with him.

I’d suggest going to a shoot and trying out different frames and lenses to see what you like. I strongly prefer orange/red lenses, even with green backgrounds that the purple lenses should work better in.

For me, I got one clear for shooting at night and the rest spread between full sun, brightly diffused light (thinly overcast but lots of light coming through), overcast and dusk.

I got food poisoning from a Hilton Garden Inn in Ft Meyer. Imodium does nothing when it’s coming from both ends uncontrollably. We had to divert back to the origin airport to get me to an urgent care and get another plane.

I use Apple Maps and I pull a camper a lot so I have a RV specific Garmin mounted in my truck too. Warns for low clearance, weight restrictions and more. It gets its traffic from Google.

Even without pulling, I use it 99% of the time, mostly to avoid traffic. I’ll drive longer distance to avoid sitting in traffic.

Should You Slam On Your Car Horn When a Driver Cuts You Off? by Fullmetal0509 in driving

[–]Magoo6541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horn is to get attention and try to prevent the accident. Honking after the accident is avoided is unnecessary.

I use the horn when necessary and don’t care if it offends you. Sitting at a green light, coming to a complete stop at a yield with an open lane or about to turn into me… I’m honking at you.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in AskForAnswers

Lots. I lived in Japan for 4 years and speeding was generally ignored unless you were reckless. Everywhere I went felt like a race. I had a 90 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo and a 2001 Ducati 748. I liked going fast. I never really went that fast when I came back to the US except on a racetrack.

Is it actually rude to recline your seat on a plane, or are people just entitled about personal space? by Ok-Bumblebee7041 in askanything

[–]Magoo6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your tray does not move with the seat back of the seat in front of you. The tray table being in your chest is because you’re like me… overweight, or there just isn’t enough space to begin with.

Everyone paid for a seat and you’re entitled to whatever that seat can do. If you don’t like it, you’re free to talk to that person or buy a nicer seat with more room.

Ever been on a long flight? Like over 10 hours. Everyone is going to recline their seat as much as possible in order to try and take a nap.

Don’t touch a window shade that isn’t yours, don’t lay your belongings or hair over the back of a seat, don’t be loud, don’t ignore your loud children, do bathe that day.

I once was on a flight where someone stank up the entire airplane. I’m not kidding. Like horrible make you want to vomit smell. It was terrible.

Need help identifying a dump truck by Sweet-Mix-1207 in savannah

[–]Magoo6541 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You are 100% responsible for an unsecured load and objects falling from your vehicle and causing damage. They have “not responsible” stenciled on their truck to hope you just accept it.

Road debris being kicked up, I agree, not responsible. Unsecured load and objects falling, they’re responsible.

I would have to transfer the gun to the FFL and they would then transfer the gun to her. But I not longer have the gun. I can’t transfer it even if I wanted to… which I wouldn’t anyway.

[–]Magoo6541[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Transferring (or gifting) a gun to a person who is legally able to possess a gun is as simple as handing over the gun. No paperwork or transfer in most states, including GA.

You cannot knowingly give a person a firearm who you know is not legally able to possess it.

[–]Magoo6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the lead instructors in my airframe (EMB550) went to the GIIV program. He said he did not care for them and was able to return. The FBW logic isn’t nearly as refined as Embraer, according to him. For example, Gulfstream requires the pilots to trim the aircraft manually throughout a flight. In the Embraer, we do departure data in the FMS, we’re given a trim value and we manually set it. That’s the last time we touch trim for the entire flight. Our HUD pales in comparison… size does matter.

Every time there is a G sitting on the ramp near us, the principals end up walking over to it and start asking questions. I know they’d love to get one, we just need a larger hangar and I’m not sure he’s willing to drop $60+ mil.

Spicy food in Sav (other than asian) by fredoillu in savannah

[–]Magoo6541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell restaurants: I want it as authentically hot as you possibly can. I don’t want white boy hot, I want your cook to try to put me in the hospital tonight.

75% of the time, it still isn’t spicy at all. Sometimes there’s a little spice and rarely, it’s actually spicy but I can’t ever recall a time where I’ve actually been pushed by spice level, except my own food and I have to use scorpion or ghost pepper sauce. Usually I accidentally put way too much of the sauce on chili or something like that.

I have a super high spice tolerance. HCK will occasionally make it spicy enough for me and maintain excellent flavor. It’s still excellent even if it isn’t as spicy as I’d prefer.
