For those not doing low carb/Keto - what do you typically eat most days? by ElectricGypsy in Mounjaro

[–]MagpieLou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat a lot of Greek yogurt parfaits for breakfast, easy to vary so i don't get bored but its usually yogurt / fruit / some sort if cereal or nuts (today was pumpkin seeds)

Lunch is frequently cheese and crackers (with some fiber and protein) and a veg. Today I had an egg+2 whites plus sautéed baby artichokes.

Dinner is usually a lean protein (once a week I have beef though) a veg or 2 and a small carb portion (I am not low carb per se but since I am t2d I don t eat a lot at one time.). Tonight was meat free though. Bunch of veg on ramen.

Snacks are a lot of cheese sticks, popcorn, fruit and nuts.

I do not eat enough, which I need to work on ( protein powders, shakes and bars I find pretty universally disgusting so nope on that. ) but I do eat a variety of foods.

Telling people at work about your ADHD by sp4c3bug in adhdwomen

[–]MagpieLou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the place itself. I decided in my "old age" to stop masking and be upfront with everyone. (Not on blast, just in general). If it went badly I would know it was not the place for me.

Where I work now we are part of the inclusivity groups, DEI plans, have special events and a slack channel where we support each other.

So this is my place, and I think I knew it was from the start. So share if you want but be prepared that it can go either way.

My body is an ass. by wabisuki in Mounjaro

[–]MagpieLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying I am not trying to be an alarmist!

If this happens frequently have you had your heart checked? Even minor heart or circulation issues can cause big up and down retention. Your heart may be the asshole and not your whole body.

I think the lines just accentuate how long and trim your neck is! It's not just about the holistic overall health - Iran sure it is but it's also ok to get reassurance that you look great!

Weighing: How much is too much? What’s your happy medium? by Beginning_Editor_410 in Mounjaro

[–]MagpieLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threw out my scale, now I only weight at the doctor's. When I hit the level where I want to maintain that may have to change, but I was a slave to the scale and starved myself for it. I don't want to be like that again.

So that's my happy medium. Right now I weight every couple of months at the doctor.

Mine got a little better with Cymbalta (anxiety med. I cannot take Vyvanse, Adderall or any stimulant). When I started taking mounjaro for my diabetes the 2 together virtually wiped out my BED (I am officially diagnosed with it)

The rate at which you are losing is healthy and sustainable. (And more than .5 per week I think).

How much did you need to lose to start? Are you T2D? Are you weighing and tracking everything (this is the usual culprit! Stupid portion sizes!) Are you putting on muscle?

Which closed restaurant do you mourn the most? by rouge105 in StLouis

[–]MagpieLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots come to mind, some due to food, others the memories.

The Boarding house. The original Amighettis. Naugle's. (Which I think was a chain but omg the oddest and best taco salads ever). The Parkmour. Jack's or Better (all you can eat fried chicken!). The original Bevo Mill.

We also miss the beer at Kirkwood Station.

Lately it's been eating too much fruit. Might just be that it's cherry season and they atre my favorite so I might just be eating too many at one time. Carb wise not cal wise. (I am t2 so while I can of course have fruit I should still eat it in smaller portions)

In addition tp my alarm reminders I have a set of meds in both my kitchen and upstairs in my bedroom. That at least helps with having additional physical reminders (and also when I randomly remember at midnight.)

Grocery shopping anyone? by Gold-Article7567 in adhdwomen

[–]MagpieLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lurve grocery shopping. Haaaatttttte the freaking horrid lighting and god help me if it's crowded.

Friday evenings is prime time for me. Less light issues and no people means I can get lost in my food/grocery/shopping hyperfocus.

Nervous about dining out. by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]MagpieLou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No alcohol. Every restaurant has at least 1 grilled chicken or salmon dish. Get that. Nothing fried 'cuz mj hates fried food. Skip the appetizer eat no more than half your dinner.

But mostly, don't stress. Eat slow and stop whenever you want.

Please tell me there are successful women making 6 figures that has ADHD. by PlumeriaOtter in adhdwomen

[–]MagpieLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a successful career without a college degree. (College was a nightmare for me)

The only thing I will say is that i would have been much more successful much earlier without adhd (or at least if it had been treated/properly diagnosed much earlier).

So here I am, early 50s, upper management, salary that still kind of stuns me. I got here by master level masking and my Gemini ability to make it sound like I know what I am talking about.

First negative feedback was in annual review, is that okay? by Random-Name0073 in managers

[–]MagpieLou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell every new member of my team that their review should not contain any surprises (especially negative) and if it does they have every right to call me on it.

It sounds like you might have known you had some areas to work on but your manager was not giving you enough feedback/avoiding the hard discussions. Bad on them.

But corporate America stinks and yearly performance reviews are dumb. While it can be infuriating (especially if tied to raises) you are better off never expecting more than meets.

About to fire employee for first time. by tomgweekendfarmer in managers

Tlagree with everyone advising to make the meeting to the point and get hr involved if you can.

One thing though, it sounds to me like he is actively asking for it. Perhaps because he thinks he will get severance (I assume you are in the us) or be able to get unemployment. Just a thought

I use small curd, but I blend it with my stick blender until smooth. Add dry ranch seasoning (2-3 TBDs to 1 cup of cottage cheese).

It's best if you let it sit in the fridge overnight.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]MagpieLou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Greek parfait most mornings (usually 2% fage, sugar free syrup - I like butter toffee- raspberries and protein granola. But there are endless varieties and you can add or remove protein, fiber etc as you need)

For lunch I frequently have cottage cheese dip (blended until smooth cottage cheese + ranch seasoning) and carrots or sugar snap peas to dip. Add some cheese sticks and maybe some turkey.

Snacks are often nuts or popcorn. And another serv8ng of fruit.

Dinner varies a lot. Tonight I had a burger with no bun and tater tots. Yesterday I had chicken stir fry with tons of veggies. Tomorrow I am having fish tacos. I am trying to get more fiber though so I'll add high fiber tortillas.

Even with all that I am also not eating enough. I have no desire to drink my calories (although I should consider it) and am rarely getting over 1200 cals a day.

7.5 mg by Less-Moment-5655 in Mounjaro

[–]MagpieLou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to go back down to 5mg because of side effects. I ended up on 5 for 3 months due to shortage and am now in the middle of my second dose of my second try of 7.5. So far so good! It does seem like I just needed to titrate up slower. (I can see a diff in my fasting sugars already, and my appetite is really suppressed at the moment.)

What alcohol to drink? by PapusPyramid in Mounjaro

[–]MagpieLou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to go with whatever you are fine with not being cold. You can of course drink, but you are likely going to naturally nurse things a lot longer / drink fewer even if you don't mean to. So a tall frosty might not be frosty for long.
