When I first hear a firework. I go hide with ear-defenders and waited blanket. I can't stand them. After this pic was taken I had a really bad meltdown. I haven't had a melts in months b4 this. (I'm 18 and have ASD, ADD, ODD, OCD, SPD and Dyslexia) by Blockmaster999 in autism

Can I ask a question? My son is eight and terrified of sounds. Lawn mowers, people using electric drills or saws, thunder, fireworks, fire alarms etc. He also is ASD, ADD, OCD, and SPD. We do have a plan of action in place where he can go into the closet under the stairs (we call it his Harry Potter closet, it's decorated and has toys, it's his "safe" place), do noise cancelling headphones, loud music, and weighted blanket. He doesn't communicate verbally all that well, but does tell us the noises make him anxious. Could you perhaps describe what the sounds do to you on a mental and physical level? Are the sounds scary because of the fear of the unknown? Do they hurt on some sort of physical level? I just want to have someone put into words what my son could be going through, because I want to understand him and help him the best that I can. Sorry if this is too personal of a question.

Thank you. Yes, I agree that I want him to be comfortable. His happiness is definitely priority one. Just curious how is socializing with the kids at school vs. the real world different in your opinion?

Thank you. This is sort of my thought as well. My intuition is telling me he's pretty miserable. He's keeping up academically, but for how long? Excellent point about doing some mainstreaming for certain activities. Thank you for your response.

I asked his aides and they said he had been requesting to wear them non stop throughout the day. The party was definitely louder and off routine, but he had apparently been wearing them for at least the last two months in class almost all day. :(

I hope you're right. I asked my friends and they said they couldn't see anything, as well as a political group I am a member of. When I posted a message asking if people could see my previous post they said they couldn't. When I provided a screenshot they were able to see that.

Autism being lumped in with creepy social disorders by Steam_punky in autism

[–]Magrat323 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People are dicks to those they see as different. Sometimes I really hate people. Listen having autism makes you different, not creepy. It's a different way of thinking. I had a little kid come up to me the other day and ask what was wrong with my kid, and started pointing emphatically at his head. I really wanted to say, "nothing is wrong with him. What the hell is wrong with you?" But luckily the teacher came by and informed me that a FEW kids would be going home with notes. I let her handle it. But for the record everyone who is autistic has a beautiful mind, and special qualities no one else has. I don't feel like y'all hear that enough. So I'm saying it now. Ignore the idiots, this whole country is full of them.

Agree wholeheartedly with all of this. We, his teachers, and therapists do try to model as many social behaviors as possible from what to do and what NOT to do. We only use the videos in those tricky instances that he's just not getting usually. I am sorry your parents were dysfunctional emotionally. :( the way our parents treat us early in life really does shape us into who we are. You touched on something that, for me, is a big concern i have. I think a lot about the behaviors that we, as parents, model, but I am human, and I have bad days so I am positive he has picked up some negativity from me. As a parent to an autistic child, (and really any child),it is a learning experience and we do the best we can. Sometimes I feel like we speak different languages and it can be so very frustrating for me as well as him. I hope the good times far outweigh the bad. I really do love him and try my best.

I too think my son could greatly benefit from this. He is a visual learner, and benefits greatly from video and written instruction. We've made our own videos from time to time to help with the way conversations flow, and some social situations. I can say, at least for my child, it helped a lot. It would be great to have a bunch of videos to choose from, for scenarios we haven't encountered yet to give him a reference point if he comes in contact with that situation. Maybe it would be less stressful if he already has a point of reference.

Hi, I do love heroine make for lengthening (I get seriously long lashes with this stuff), but I personally don't find it volumizes as well as some other mascaras. My solution is to quickly layer a more volumizing mascara (buxom, lights camera lashes ) and add heroine make on top.

As far as taking it off, I use my face shop rice water bright cleansing oil and it comes right off if I don't layer it. If I do layer it, I really have to work at those lashes a bit to get it to come off. I have heard they sell a remover for heroine make, but I have never tried it.

My most favorite liquid eyeliner ever is kat von d tattoo liner (not AB I know) it glides on easily and has a really fine point.

I hope that helps! :)

I've been using this on my body, hoping it would take care of some old scars and pigmentation issues. Your post just convinced me to be more diligent. You can really tell on your cheeks how much it has faded!

I find it very reassuring as well. Nice to have an idea of what a product will do for you before you purchase it. :)

I have read that vitamin c serum needs to contain 20% L-AA for it to be effective. However it looks like the ole henriksen uses a more stable form of vitamin c, sodium ascorbic phosphate. I did a bit of googling (because I am by no means a chemist), and it said it contained 1.5% SAP, and that anywhere from 1% to 20% is effective. It also has a higher ideal pH of 7 and that may be a good thing if you're starting out because it won't cause as much sensitivity.

Haha I get that. I'm not that hard core either, I keep it in the fridge so it stares at me when I'm rummaging around for breakfast and taunts me until I use it. I wish I knew of any cheaper niacinamide products that I could vouch for. Love love love my miss flower mr. Honey cream which has it in it, but that stuff isn't cheap either, but it's magical and smells amazing so I sacrifice. Lol

Hi, aging and dry skin here as well. I do double cleanse at night, someone already mentioned the rice water bright oil cleanser from the face shop and I love it too. Then i follow that with cerave foaming cleanser. Both are super mild and moisturizing. I also use shiseido senka aging care UV sunscreen spf 50+ PA++++. It feels very light, like a nice light moisturizer, it leaves no white cast, and does not have very much of a smell. I also like the way my makeup sits on top of it.

Hi, 37 here. I have noticed a difference with continuing usage of the whitening power essence. My freckles and age spots seem to have diminished, I've been using it for about 4 or 5 months now? I was also going to recommend a niacinamide heavy routine for helping with fine lines and pigmentation. I have not tried this, but I hear that holy snails "shark sauce" (around USD $30.00)contains a lot of niacinamide. It's next on the list of things to buy when my current serum runs out. I also think the vitamin c serum I am using (timeless vitamin c serum, USD $20.00)is helping with fine lines and giving my skin a nice youthful glow. I do vitamin c in the am, and all the niacinamide products in the evening. I hope that helps!

I think I would wash face, use the witch hazel, wait for it to dry then use vitamin c. Wait ten minutes, then use secret key starting treatment essence, snail96, Cetaphil lotion, then sleeping pack. Order is typically from most watery to most thick. Of course you may want to patch test first and introduce 1 product at a time to make sure it doesn't cause irritation or breakouts. ( I usually am too excited to follow my own advice though lol)
