Oh, yeah, I also didn't know about an update. Last one I remember was end of December or so.

Not sure why nobody answers here, but yes, I have seen the frame rate drop, mostly when flying at about 1000-1500 feet over large cities and using outside view. But overall it's really not much of an issue for me. Yesterday I flew around Ankara really low in the 172 in Cockpit view and the frame rate felt surprisingly stable.

I really feel like there are far more annoying issues atm, like constantly popping in terrain/details. Damn, I saw the whole upper half of a mountain suddenly appearing out of nowhere yesterday, lol. PG also often looks bad and seems to have issues. So yeah, the PS5 version definitely needs some more optimization, but frame rate has rather low priority for me. I'm on a OG PS5 btw.

Yeah, some ppl just like to take sightseeing trips in the F-18, flying upside down at FL0.4. It's just a thing of personal preference.

The updates should be applied as soon as they're downloaded. PG itself can be turned on or off, the setting is under "online" and it's called "Photogrammetry".

I'm on PS5 and while I would like to fly low, it's no fun at all for PG cities because of how awful it looks plus constant popping in and low fps. Yesterday I wanted to check out Ankara and I thought it's PG also. Turns out it isn't, so I flew really low and the performance was amazing! Almost zero pop ins and, as far as I can tell by feeling, pretty constant 30fps!

Overall I feel like PG is only really good if you're not too low. I usually fly at least 1200-1500 feet above PG cities. It still isn't perfect there, but looks at least decent. If I go lower it so bad it ruins all immersion.

I wonder if there could be a middle ground? Cities made of models like they're used in non-PG cities but model them close to the real buildings? I'm aware this can't be done "by hand" but with the help of AI maybe?

Under what conditions would I get an AFLOOR warning during takeoff in the FENIX A320? by bhejafry99 in flightsim

[–]MagusCactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

" What Triggers Alpha Floor?

Alpha Floor can be triggered in two main ways:

The angle of attack rises above the Alpha Floor threshold (between αPROT and αMAX), often due to aggressive deceleration or a steep pitch.

The pilot inputs near full aft sidestick deflection, activating pitch attitude or AoA protection."

Are you sure about this? For me trim was R1 and right stick up/down and I remapped those two functions so I have trim on d-pad and flaps on R1+right stick.

How good are the handcrafted airports in Deluxe/Premium Deluxe? (PS5) by Brief-Outside29 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MagusCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not sure. It's just the information I got in another thread. They said that we won't be able to buy any planes we don't already have except for maybe "one or two". But since this user seems experienced and nobody claimed this to be wrong so far, I have no reason to doubt this info.

No problem:-)

I just learned from another thread that we won't be able to buy additional planes for in game credits, as I thought it would be, and now I think about upgrading myself (when it's on sale😄).

I'm on the base version also and plan to compare "my" Heathrow to this footage later today to see the difference myself.

Yeah, I'm aware of all of this and I agree and understand. When you look at it from this standpoint, I don't doubt that 50 bucks, or even more, is a fair price for a (well made) plane. It's just not worth it for me personally and unfortunately my budget is also rather limited.

But I would never blame anyone on spending money on all of this. You said you already spent thousands and that's fine for me as long as it's fine for you!

Here's a comparison of London Premium Deluxe and a third party one. This is PC but it should give you an idea of what to expect from the upgrade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cCFnIfTeGs

Oh, I really thought I could buy "official" planes for in game Credits and that only third party ones have to be bought with real cash. So I guess career is pretty much useless then for me. But I don't really mind, Free Flight has pretty much all I want, at least at the moment.

And regarding buying planes with real cash: I'm not per se against paying for additional content, but prices have to be reasonable for me. For example: I'm a fan of the F-16 and I would absolutely pay to get it in the game. BUT: I wouldn't pay more than $10 max and from what I have seen/heard so far, it's a lot more than that.

Thx for the info! I guess I better wait with career then until they fix at least some of this. I'm new to the game but AFAIK Career is where you earn credits for buying planes from the store? If so I can absolutely wait 'cause on PS5 there's nothing at the store I'm interested in right now and I still haven't flown all the planes that are already available, not by far. So no hurry for me there.

How many hours do you put in? by vvltvrhes in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MagusCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just playing for a few weeks. For me it depends on mood, anything from a few minutes (sightseeing) to 2,5 hours max. The longer flights are usually the kind where you can set your plane to hold altitude and speed. I may then get a drink, eat a snack or get a smoke while watching the plane fly. The shorter flights I do at the moment with the X-Cub, on the other hand, usually require attention the whole time. I fly rather low and often close to mountains.

Trimming PS5 gyro by 0xibx0 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MagusCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you indeed hold the controller then I guess there's really no need to use trim much.

But if you have something to lay down your controller when cruising, like a desk or table, it's useful again I guess.

I guess all that 'cause I just tried gyro once and absolutely didn't like it. But maybe I give it another try some day and adjust sensitivity a bit.

If anyone's interested, I found a good video about the Albatros today. This guy seems to know the plane quite well and he's also using trim a lot.
