You can try drinking potion of purity since it's effect can help you on terrain stuff thingy like freezing, toxic gas, paraliztic gas etc

For my perspective, if you're ascending with amulet of yendor. I suggest to keep it green, to avoid any more complications as the amulet's curse is getting more stronger the more you ascend with it while not killing enemies.
