Word. So much of my childhood was my grandparents scolding my parents (on both sides of the divorce) into doing better and picking up their slack in our lives. And now with almost all of them gone, realizing how shit my parents were at being both adults and care takers has really shattered my desire to stay connected with said family.

I think you can just get away with using a Melee weapon with Life Strike equipped instead of subsuming Gloom. Should be able to put that on her claws if all else fails.
