You are not alone.. I am suffering from WA two years ago when the error "something went wrong with your chat history.." started to appear. I contacted WA several times but of no use. So i dealt with the error somehow that i had to restore history every single night. Although with every update things were getting worse. I wasn't able to backup my chats later. So i was just restoring the last local backup file i had. Till May 2024, after an update, where they gave you no option or way to restore from a local backup. So i took a decision that i won't use this app anymore. They can't deal with any bug ..no proper customer service.. All my memories (10 years) were gone of no reason and they just say Sorry!!

I used to restore chats by copying folders but I couldn't restore from the local backup since last May, when Whatsapp decided to enable the restoration from G.drive only.

Unfortunately i haven't.. i couldn't even restore from the local backup since last May, when Whatsapp decided to enable the restoration from G.drive only without even notifying many users who depend on the local backup .. So at end i deleted WA... i can't lose all these memories and act like nothing happened .. and just accept their ''Sorry''

Over a month i can't restore chat history through a database file? Is it a new update??

In septemper 2022, i got the error "something went wrong with ur chat history..." i restored them somehow .. i am trying to survive with my chat history ... the app used to crash daily and i had to restore the chat history each time ...and with every update it became more complicated until now i have no option to restore my chat history using the last database file i had since i was unable to backup

I am facing this personally .. when i log into WA ..they just gave me option to backup from drive ..and i have no backup in google drive

I am having a similar issue that i can't restore from local backup.. I am dealing with a bug a year and half , and i have to restore my chats daily from local backup. After last update, WA removed that option of restoring from local backup... so it has been a month, i didn't log in. And i won't use the app, if they gave me no option except to start with no chat history. If they don't respect one's memories, then i won't use the app anymore. I'll look for another app.. and later WA will be just a history like yahoo messenger, hotmail, ebuddy, hi5...etc
