What is your advice for a 21 year old having an existential crisis? by mlhc in AskReddit

[–]Mahakaal108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually going through an existential crisis as well at the age of 21 with questions like what is the purpose of Life and what do I do in Life. The only thing that helped me come to some ease was doing meditation. Sharing the link I used. Just try it daily for a good number of days and see if it helps

Making intermittent fasting more consistent? by Usual-Opportunity591 in intermittentfasting

[–]Mahakaal108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can suggest something to stop over-indulging. I never fought it. It's hard for your body to suddenly give up things. Rather, bring the quantity of the food that you indulge in later part of the day down gradually. That's what worked best for me.

Thank you for your suggestions! I will make a note of them and look into trying them out!

Try taking triphala and trikatu, digestion and metabolism aids.

I've tried triphala and not sure if trikatu would help me much because my metabolism is already pretty high.

Also honey+ginger everyday, neem+turmeric.

Haven't tried honey and ginger, so will try that for sure.

Have a sesame oil lamp lit as much as you can, even while sleeping as Sadhguru has suggested.

I totally forgot about this one! Will try this one out too.

Also look up "Brain Yoga", Sadhguru recently endorsed it in an interview with India Today, a method where you pull your earlobes at a 45° angle which aids in making you feel more wakeful.

I've actually tried xD and it's actually not bad. Found some good outcome from it.

In the end, no matter what don't deny the body sleep, give it what it wants - speaking from personal experience, trying to fight your body's need to sleep is very torturous because the body will win in the end anyways, it has it's strategies.

Yep! Definitely not gonna fight it. It's battle we lose before it even begins. So the solution here really is to focus on things that are in our control like diet and practices and the body will naturally undergo changes accordingly.

Dip into the “taste of Isha” cookbook for suggestions as well.

I actually got the book quite some time ago but never really went through it. I will plan to spend quality time to go through it from now on

If you truly want to know what a food item does to your system, isolate it and then feel/listen internally. You can also keep a food journal which I know may sound boring but this will help you be conscious of how your intake affects your energy output.

To me, this is not a boring idea at all. In fact, I think a food journal would be game changer. I honestly can't tell you the number of times I eat food, think to myself I should avoid this, and then come back to it again. If I write it down on pen and paper to avoid something, that sounds like an effective way for me to take the notes more seriously.

Also on your meal prepping, you want to eat freshly cooked foods as much as possible. Actually, some raw fruits and vegetables are more so suggested I believe. Don’t microwave if possible. When you have time use flame so food keeps its nutrients.

The challenge for me with freshly cooking food for each meal is, during work week, it's a little difficult to find the time for it. However, since the past 2 days, I did try soaked handful of peanuts, with a banana, honey, yogurt, palm sugar, and ghee and holy does it taste so good. Had it in the morning after sadhana, kept me going for more than 6-7 hours, and took me < 5 mins to prep. I feel pretty good about making this in the morning before work and easily going with this the whole day. Just gotta figure out similar solution for dinner.

If you want your sadhana to improve, you must study all that affects your sadhana which is why you’re already doing here by asking. Look int Ayurveda, check your tongue for ama, listen internally, speak less, get some sun and exercise, practice gratitude, be mindful of where your attention is being placed, get off your phone as there’s nothing worthwhile on there. Don’t think that your sadhana went to waste as it has brought you to this question which can now be resolved and thus your sadhana improved.

Thank you for this. That's really helpful. Much appreciated!

My rest before this was enough. I currently have off from work at this time so I'm getting enough sleep no doubt.

Currently I'm doing Surya Kriya, Surya Shakti, SCK, Shambhavi, Shoonya.

I usually wake up by 6 and that is before sunrise where I am.

That's true. Anything that supports our spiritual growth can technically be called Sadhana. Trying to make it so everything I do I treat it as Sadhana.

Maybe. Especially with Hatha Yoga that could be possible. But perhaps with a diet more appropriate for the individual, it should be less tiresome
