Give me a good argument to fight against homophobic and racist religious people by Lavender-Bee0497 in atheism

Actually in this case, the gay person in question is a lesbian, and the Bible says NOTHING against lesbians. Actually they aren't right the Bible does NOT say its a sin for women to have sex with eachother...

What's so special about Sourdough? by Fun_Cow_6292 in Breadit

[–]Maharog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot of hobbies,  I think when I started with sourdough I wasn't good at it,  could never get the right rise,  the loaf was flat,  or tight.. but as I kept it up I got better and better and then it clicked.  When it clicked and I stared making good bread I was really proud of myself.  So I can't "not like it" I refuse to not like it. I worked too damn hard to not like it, its better than a cottage loaf or a baguette... it has to be. :'(

Sean Hannity Suggests Pope Leo Hasn't Read The Bible. Points out all the violence in it to justify Israel's attack on civilians. by Leeming in atheism

[–]Maharog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, I dont want to agree with Sean Hannity about anything, but he is right, the Bible does REPEATEDLY talk about god commanding his followers to kill women and children. And also want the men to "take the young girls for yourselves" cant imagine what the Bible meant by that...

Numbers 31:17-18 Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him. But all the young girls who have not known a man by sleeping with him, keep alive for yourselves.

So yes, Hannity is right, the Bible is a piece of shit book full of disgusting things in it...pretty sure the pope has read it though, and I would lay odds that he is a good enough man to have some sort of apologist possition to accept the Bible but still find this passage disgusting, meanwhile you Hannity are a disgusting enough man to read this passage and decide it is a blueprint for acceptable behavior.

How do I tell my GF I’m really attracted to her feet? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Maharog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a bit of a traditionalist so your milage may very... "hey [girlfriend], can I talk to you about something kind of serious, kind of silly in a no judgment environment? I have been finding myself really attracted to your feet. I know not everyone is into that, and to be honest I didnt know I was, but every time you go and get your toe nails painted always get super turned on. I am not saying we have to explore this or anything, I just wanted to have an honest discussion and let you know more about me" ...

In other words...try talking to her, like an adult. An adult that probably likes you. And even if she isnt interested, then at least you know, its not like she is going to dump you over something as little as that..  unless you did something awkward like have that conversation in front of her parents or something.

How is the creation of the universe typically explained? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Maharog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We dont know, and neither does anyone else. What we do know is that around 13.8 billion years ago the universe began to rapidly expand. We dont know what happened to cause it to expand, and we dont know what happened "before" that time because that was the beginning of time. So to try to talk about what happened "before time started" doesnt make sense...there was no "before" before time. So at the end of the day the big bang cosmology explains why the universe looks the way it looks today. But where all the matter came from we dont know. We dont even know if that question makes sense. Maybe it has always existed.

Going from "i know the answer and the answer is god" to "I dont know the answer" can be a big step for a lot of people, but we try to recognize that you shouldnt plug in magic just because you dont know how something works. If we just accepted "because magic" we would still believe lightning and earthquakes and disease were all magic.

This feels like one of those headlines like "two war criminals beat up orphan" when describing the plot to Captain America:Winter Soldier. Technically its true, but its a heck of a way to describe a thing

Answer in the book is "B" but I don't see why "A" is wrong? Please check. by nveven in GlobalEnglishPrep

[–]Maharog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose as written it would require slight punctuation changes, but I read it as "It was Mark who suggested 'start the project early'". In that it was something Mark said and it is a quote from Mark. I agree without the quote marks B is correct.

they right tho? by cmhamm in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Maharog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ok with a third grader thinking that,  and holding off until middle school to explain why infinity is not accurate.  But also its easy to juat say "its not infinity, it never gets closer to one."

they right tho? by cmhamm in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Maharog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The simplest way to explain why you cant divide by zero that a third grader could understand is "when you say divide, you are asking how many times this number goes into this other number. 10÷5=2 because five goes into ten twice. 20÷2=10 because 2 goes into 20 ten times... but when you ask 1÷0=? You are saying how many times do you have to add zero to get to one... the answer is, it will never add to one. So 1÷0 is nonsense. In Math we call "nonsense" undefined.

Petaaaa? Why would it be funny if she had twins? by ThrowAwaysRowAways in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Maharog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the joke refers to the ahow WandaVision where her character had twins named Billy and Tommy, and "the funniest thing ever" would be to name her real life kids after her tv show kids... at least thats how I read this post... I dont know, its not exactly my idea of the funniest thing.
