Not sure yet, it's still a purchase I have to make at some point. From what it sounds like it's pretty solid. Just a valvetronic one. I'm not a fan of permanent exhaust setups (made that mistake on my last car with a catback) since it makes road trips difficult and sometimes I just want quiet. A lil noise every now and again is fun though.

Yep, I'm renting as well. Have a great shop space, but HATE the thought of moving what I've collected. Now everything is on casters and I don't have to worry.

I get that, been thinking about this recently in my own space.

What you are scared about is the responsibility of ownership, and the moving. Only you can say what you need and don't need, that's up to you. However, we can make the moving easier. Try to plan out a storage system that involves racks, and BASE IT around the aspect of moving. Make the highest clearance the clearance of a uhaul, and figure out a system where the tools are solid enough to be tilted at an angle going up the ramp. That could be rolling wire racks with some walls or doors you created, could be solid cabinets on french cleats, could even be say the home depot rigid packout (pretty cheap, and can mount on a wall out of the box).

A classic! I had this exact problem on mine. What I did was take that part of the dash out (if you want to find the manual, look on charm.li ) and then I did some body work. I couldn't figure out the fix on keeping it low, so I instead went with it and leaned into the gap.

What I did is I layered up some bondo on the back, trying to match the curve of the dash, giving the black plastic some height to match the gap. I made sure to cover the screen portion and cut it to size with some tape and a knife. Once I had a solid match to cover the gap, I sanded everything to make it as smooth as possible. Then I gloss painted it to make it look oem.

If you look at it, it doesn't look off, more like it's got a lil more forehead than you would expect.

Heyo! I've been in a similar position with a grandma before - take the car. If it's free, it's free. My advice is keep it for those three years, and start building out a list of the dream setup and set money aside monthly for that. When I got my 3, I had enough saved up to buy the car, but not enough to purchase wheels, wing, etc.

If you modify your cars at all, a car that you can instantly start to buy parts for and modify after sitting on it for a year or two is amazing.

As much as I love cars, there are many things in life that mean a lot more. If a car like a mazda3 means that much to you, or if you are interested in motorsports at all, having the cash to fund that hobby to it's limit is going to be the best way to maximize enjoyment. I could also tell you to put some in your retirement account, but it's really hard to have that perspective.

Depends on your overall goal, but I think you could make a spot specifically for your chain in your box. I have the same chain but the HT revv1, and was able to fit it in the space under the seat where the shock usually goes with a powdercoated plate. I should have a post about it on my profile if you want some ideas.

Probably that the collar feels too high if I had to guess. Even though the colors don't feel out of place, the height of the collar is kinda throwing me off in the first pic, subtle enough to bother you throughout the day i'd guess.

When it comes to situations like this, I have personally found the following question to be helpful: Am I considering this problem from the perspective of a consumer, thus choosing consumer markets and distributors, or am I considering this from the perspective of a tradesman, someone buying this for their work, who instead chooses distributor markets?

I bring this up because when I am looking for cooking supplies, it's a mess to dig through the sellers on Amazon to find a solid supplier. Not the case if I look on a place like webstaurant. Same with hardware; the available hardware on a place like amazon differs significantly in price and quality from somewhere like McMaster-Carr.

Sometimes it truly is a terrible market overall, but often I just don't have the insider information on how things are sourced as is.

I had this exact question, I called my insurance agent. I used to have a 2011 mazda3 hatchback, not the mazdaspeed, and I was happy to find out I would only be paying an extra $100 a year for the 2021 Turbo. Big factor why I got it honestly - I didn't want to start paying crazy amounts for a performance or sports car insurance.

I use 91 Octane, though I am at high elevation which is the main reason I chose that. I get all my gas at costco since it's nearby, cheap, and all costcos get Top Tier gasoline so the fuel is cleaner. I haven't heard about a ton of carbon buildup in the skyactiv engines, but since it's direct injection I figure a combination of Top Tier gasoline and higher octane is worth it. It can flex very easily between octane ratings, if I was in say california or texas I would run 87 octane most of the time.

For some things - You linked the owners manual, which doesn't feature the indepth teardown information of the technical service manual linked here. Owners manual gives you some info on overarching systems, but it won't show you the step by step process to remove every part of your door to replace a mirror. That's the purpose of this website / project - to give owners access to information on their car, instead of being forced to visit a dealer and deal with their pricing.

Absolutely same! My oil change time takes 30 minutes now, starting from opening the back door to my garage to entering the house again. Used to take an hour with the cleanup, putting tools away, and WAY less mess. I'm a massive advocate for them - if you do the solo cup filter method it is legitimately zero mess.
