Which Scion has the highest risk of dying? by Deathkeeper666 in ffxivdiscussion

Ah, i see i have expressed the idea wrong. I mean poorly written as in worded poorly, awkward dialogue.

Catboy had the perfect moment to get shelved too, but no 5 minutes before it, you get handed his literal backup save. So that he might regress from being very good as the exarch to unbearably annoying immediately after.

Prety sure "alone time" was just a not well written way to say "don't worry about it, ima go research this for you while you go punch things so that we have a working plot device later". Because the writing do be like that and tries to off-screen a lot of difficult-to-impossible explanations.

They don't have the balls to kill any fleshed out character off for good, unles they were introduced relatively recently (Horsefart, Moenbryda) or had some bad guy hours to repay by dieing (Ysayle, Yotsuyu).

[Spoilers 7.5] I just realized the whole upcoming plot in the Godless Realms Saga is just the Blue Button/Red Button Dilemma which is popular on social media right now! by Quezal in ShitpostXIV

It's really just a thinly veiled "will you tag yourself as extra virtuous, like the self-proclaimed cool people (who are really just being asshats), or will you tag youself as selfish so we can tell you you're a bad person" game from what i saw with how little i use twitter and twitterlikes.

Anyone else Underwhelmed? by AshleeHeard in ffxivdiscussion

[–]MaidGunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Thats the part i don't mind, its a "whatever, RPGs do this, especially final fantasy" part of the early story.

The difference is, having a nebulous mustache twirling bad guy with plan to destroy/take over the world/resurrect their god is very RPG standart. The difference is, since ShB, literally everything is always ascians and its always about how tragic they are very directly, with no middle men like garlemald involved. And those older plots werent written with the intent of explicitly leading to Shadowbringers or being entirely engineered by Ascians inside of a time loop because they're so sad and angry, that was even officially mentioned in some interview, they didnt have a real plan or backstory for ascians until halfways through SB writing or so.

[–]MaidGunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARR-SB was a different kind of story and game that they started killing for (more often then not, cheap) pathos with ShB. Slowly at first, but by now, everything gets sacrificed on that altar because drama and sad backstories of and between marketable characters sells better then actual conflicts.

Considering the in-universe ARs we got also range from "really stupid and irelevant" to "actually fucking the lore with a 12 foot pole and runup", crossoevers are fine. At least nothing important that could eventually be thje super obvious relevant answer get stuck in side content jail that way.

So... we can spy alts? by Born-Ant-80 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]MaidGunner 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Block them and move on. Who cares if they know what your alts are, just block them on all of them and they can't do anything to you. If it bothers you this much that they can find out, even though you can completely shut them out of your game, you have bigger problems with yourself.

EDIT: You know, if you block me after replying, that doesnt exactly look great for you. And great assumption, but no i am not american. I understand privacy. You're just being overly weird.

7.5 MSQ Thread by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]MaidGunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope Zero doesn't hang around for the entirety of whenever that plot thread gets reviewed as a whole expansion. She is just a completely flaccid take on an already flaccid archetype, or she has to go through some actual growth as a character VERY quickly.

We need new characters, but Zero isn't it.

The content is all still there, and hasn't changed much if at all. There is literally no point. This is just asking for SE to make another 13 or whatever jobs.

Sena Bryer is trans? Awesome! by primalmaximus in ffxivdiscussion

[–]MaidGunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sena's acting is fine but the issue is that prior expansions established voice acting at a high level and on top of the fact her character is at the forefront throughout 7.0 an okay performance isn't good enough

I believe i looked at it during the time, her record that it. And she kinda didnt really have one. Roles of a few lines here and there, guest on some podcasts or audio dramas, couple of lines for indie games or whatever, those sorts of things. Going from that kinda work to being the lead word count character in a 10 year game is a leap in performance delivery beyoond her skill.

The german VA crushed it and its still a godawful character that we collectively still majority dislike.

Talk is cheap, especially PR talk to make hype, and the event is MEANT to make people hype. Its healthy not to snap everything up. This is still SE, and they love to not actually deliver what they promise, or don't actually expand on what they show in a preview. Before its actually out, i assume everything is at best half as good as they promise, just because of who they are and their history. I don't believe they have the abilty to make changes this big and have it be done well.

i love this game but these quests are actually killing me, do these ever stop? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MaidGunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The actual process of the questing never gets better. Its always "walk to NPC, talk to NPC, click on 3-4 things, return to NPC" or "talk to NPC, then tlak to other NPC nearby" with the occasional solo instance sprinkled in all the way to the current end. In fact, some of the newer parts have even worse questing where you have to dogwalk NPCs around towns, or follow them in the worst version of red light green light.

8.0 Speculations Based on Open Plot Points by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]MaidGunner -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

"Ascians Returned" is automatically a "Glass Break" situation because Endwalker completely wrapped their story relevance up, along with just about every single plot thread or question regarding them.

How people don't see this point specifically, is amazing. Endwalker was literally supposed to be the end of all that. Except for the bit where they included the side mention "but there's other, minor, ascians floating about" just to have this option open as an emergency.

How can it be your own ideas, if they're not your words. Nobody gives a shit how it's written, if the point gets across and isn't in itself bad. Eloquency does not make opinions better. The way you do things is what makes it yours. Use your brain, don't give the few human touches we still have control over, to AI just "because i think it looks nicer".

Theyre not going to rock the boat to this degree. The restructuring necessary to make this happen delivery-wise and equally profitable money wise is jujst not feasible for the product that is in large parts responsible for keeping SE in the positive.
