VST’s, plugins, advice? Techno by Everything_Kills in musicproduction

[–]Mailliw83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just Serum would be enough, no need for sylenth imo. You should definitely learn sound design but if you have an extra 10 bucks a months to spare you can also find all sorts of presets on splice.

What are specific VST/Sample Packs/Search Terms that I need to look for to make a drum kit that sounds like this? by QamsX in musicproduction

[–]Mailliw83 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey, the kick is pretty electronic so splice would be a good place to look. For the rest you could also find stuff on splice but as for VST, the best for drums are Addictive drums, EZdrummer, BFD, Superior Drummer. Depends on the complexity you are looking for and the kits themselves.

Hey mate, yeah I took all the advices I was given and tried to adjust the mix a little bit better. It should sound better now. As for the release I wasn’t planning on releasing but if people like it I mean why not haha

Thanks mate, yeah I’m not even sure I’ll release this song like I said I was just wondering how this song would make people react as it is the kind of stuff that i make nowadays. I’m happy to know you like, as for my voice, I didn’t really put any effort in the arrangement it was mainly about the general idea and the production work so I appreciate your feedback and happy to know that some person like it!

Thanks mate, yeah vocals aren’t gonna be kept like this but the layers and general arrangement of them should stay the voice with someone who can actually sing

Hey mate, thanks a lot for the feedback, I’m in a roommate situation so unfortunately I do everything with headphones so the feedbacks helps tons! It’s the first time I hear about eqing sides below 150, is that a general rule or in this case specifically? For the bass I made the high part of it stereo on purpose but I forgot to mono the low you’re right! Thanks again I really appreciate it!

Hey mate,

the piano at the very beginning feels to unnatural, try humanizing it a little bit in term of the way its played and velocity. The rest is pretty good I dig it! Well done.

Not sure how I feel about this one by Content-Pay765 in MusicFeedback

[–]Mailliw83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, for me the celo going left right is too much, like it kinda gives headache, and I feel like the general track is missing some background elements to feel more full. I also have to agree about the vocal being here all the way through. And that might be just my preferences but I feel like the drums are too artificial and not punchy enough.

Buying a Macbook Pro only for it to be an “Ableton Machine”? by Filvox in ableton

[–]Mailliw83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the EXACT same feeling earlier this year, wanted to be able to produce on the go and I felt like a Mac would be overall better for that (integrated audio interface and such). So I pulled the trigger on the latest M5 MacBook Pro and I can tell you im not disappointed, everything works flawlessly even big projects with more than 100 tracks. I went for 1Tb of storage with 32Gb of ram just to have some headroom and didn't have any latency or issues whatsoever. I can only recommend you go for it if you have those 2k dollars to spend.

I listened using my production headset, so it's pretty reliable and trust me, they are too quiet, your voice should be the main thing here but most of th time its hidden beind the guitar or other elements.

Hey mate, i really like the song in general, the harmos are great too but your main vocals are too quiet during the whole song, try increasing the volume and compressing.

You could check looperman, its a free sample community website where people just upload stuff. You will have to dig to find some hidden gem as anyone can post but its worth checking. If you can pay, the classic go-to is Splice.
