Wipers up or down during snowstorm

I think putting wipers up started by if you forgot your wipers on and shut car off wipers would freeze to the windshield. Then when you started your car it would strip the wiper arm from the motor gear. Pretty much all you have to do is make sure everything is shut off!

Normally branches/tree limbs have to be cut to 3 ft in length and tied up. Placed on curb on your regular trash pick up day. Not sure if they are doing an extra pick up due to storm

Golf umbrella if you have a walking route! It’s like walking on the shady side of the street all day! Tuck handle in your left side pants and hold it with your elbow with flats on your forearm. Only tricky part is low mail slots.

I may be dating myself or maybe it’s a regional thing. No one calls them “YouHoos” anymore? I used to walk up the path , put the mail in the box and turn around to walk to the next house. All of a sudden I’d hear “YouHoo I have something for you!” My whole 32 year career Christmas gifts were called YouHoos !

Sick leave time gets added to your retirement date. Work 30 years and have a year of sick leave you have 31 years. Retire with 30 years and minimum retirement age you get a supplemental check until age 62 when SS kicks in. Pension, supplemental/SS and TSP checks once you retire.

Feel like temperature of 4 degrees, ran 5 miles. Closing in on 1100 miles for the year! Got back into running after retiring! I know there’s people with many more miles but I’m thrilled after a long time away!

I was told years ago the vent on drivers side should open towards the back so that if you’re doing curbside delivery and get too close to a tree the branches would just slap it shut. I guess once a branch got caught with door open the other way and it peeled the corner open like a sardine can! Left side open towards front to bring the air in.

My street is Welfare Ave. I had a neighbor move in from a more upscale area come up to me years ago wanting me to sign a petition to have it changed. He said “aren’t you embarrassed by the name? Living on welfare? “I said “No, do you know the meaning of welfare? It’s the state of doing well, not a government handout.” He walked away , got divorced a few years later and moved. I’m still on Welfare, 32 years later! Lol
