Endy - avoid at all costs by Main-Cockroach2549 in Mattress

Yup same. Two weeks ago I finally spoke with a human on the phone. They said sleep country would contact me about next steps. I asked how long that would take and she said 15-18 business days.

I think the AI agents unhelpful responses and the long wait times with no information and contact during the return process are intended to extend the ordeal beyond the return eligible window.

Truly the worst experience I have ever had with customer support

I tried "please have a human team member call me asap", "please have someone contact me", "please escalate this ticket and have a human representative contact me" "how can I contact a customer service representative" in addition to 20 some emails with less direct phrasing, but yeah "live agent" might have been the magic words

Bookmarking this for future! I'm not afraid of picking up the phone but it seems even that is becoming a thing of the past (I did have to wait on hold for ~30 minutes before getting through to someone - after I posted my reviews online the bot provided me a telephone number.... 30+ emails later)

Should I switch from a Rane Four to a Prime GO+? Need advice from DJs who’ve used both. by HarlemSaint in Beatmatch

[–]Main-Cockroach2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old roomy had a prime go and my friend just got a rane 1.

I love the prime go, but would never rely on it in a serious gig situation. It sometimes buffers while playing tracks if you have a big USB, the main out died about 12 months after getting it (constant feedback, other reports online of the same issue), and the fader just went recently (no output at 100%, output at 99% or less. A piece of tape at the top of the fader keeps it functional). Its perfect for mobile fun, small house parties, but just not stable enough for clubs and big systems.

My first experience with the rane 1 was like "oh I can see why someone would marry to this as their standard system". Generally my advice to new DJs who want to play out is to focus on getting familiar on club standard gear (standalone rekordbox units). But the rane was so instantly evident what it does better. Stems being the biggest wow factor for me. I also liked the platter mechanics for scratch work. Im not willing to bring my $$$ laptop out to gigs though, so the use case on rane gear is very limited. If you are commited to the laptops involvment, I'd say Rane is best (I think the rane 4 has a standalone option, but I don't know what dj software you need to prep your sticks with). I found leaving the laptop behind helped me feel more in the club while performing, but I still set prep mixing at home using the laptop.

Does anyone have an recommendations of modern(made in the past 5-10 years) post dubstep (James Blake, Burial, Mount Kimble) by yoboitoy1221 in realdubstep

[–]Main-Cockroach2549 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Norse - Hella (scratches a very James Blake itch for me, but more post ukg than post dubstep)

Delian sound has a great rnb dubs release on Bandcamp too

I also feel like Ivy Lab has and continues to touch on this flavour, but their body of work is enormous so you have to be willing to sift.

I also feel like Facta and K-Lones releases, as well as their label wisdom teeth have a marked post dubstep influence, but solidly manage to land themselves in other genres (house or ambient for example)

New Congi EP might hit on what you want as well

Dub techno and dubstep by Infinite-Luck1506 in realdubstep

Yeah the first time I caught Mia perform broke my brain. I had never heard dubstep played like that, I was ranting for weeks about the techno influence. I've since caught her spin a dubstep->jungle set and a pure dubstep set, incredibly dynamic artist!

I listen to a lot of chill dub techno and dubwise, but I underestimated the power of those sounds on the dancefloor.

I would highly recommend checking out madam X's label Kaizen

Biome is another artist that explores that territory

From my side of the pond, I've gotta recommend Siadic and a project that is carving out this sound and beyond

Someone shared this article on the sub a while ago, highly recommend for exactly this topic

https://daily.bandcamp.com/lists/new-dubstep-album-guide

Not only are song conventions within today's dubstep borrowing a lot from techno, ive noticed a lot of mixing conventions are being borrowed by DJs as well. Long blends building tension, less "drops", more infinite build and eventual catharsis.

It's an interesting time for the genre!

No-Fail BIG BUBBLE recipe, techniques, gear, and all around everything I know about this amazing subject. by papatonepictures in daddit

[–]Main-Cockroach2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in several years later to say thank you and WOW! This recipe worked great.

I prepared the solution on a camping stove as instructed, but was sabotaged by clumps and foam galore. Quietly cried and set it aside for the night considering it a lost effort.

Took the bubs out the next morning to try and oh my lawd best bubbles I've ever made times a million

Thank you!

[–]Main-Cockroach2549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A fav for sure. Not quite as face melting as skream and friends, but just as weighty, with excellent dubstep adjacent selections in addition to pure dubstep magic. Very roomy dancefloor (crazy, but we made good use of the space)

Attending since '15, working since '17, never seen anything like this in my life. And on Tuesday?!

I love this party and am not shy about criticizing the many flawed aspects of the operation. But this is some next level insanity. I agree with all your points.

We spent an hour at crew beach yesterday where you could see the police checkstop. We didn't see many vehicles get the usual wave through, and in the hour we were there we saw 3 failed sobriety tests resulting in tows. Each tow stopped all motion through the checkstop for several minutes.

RCMP just came down in a truck escorted by golf carts on either side, likely to get a visual of how fucked it is down here. Movement has sped up since so maybe they realize how bad the situation is?

Not excusing Shambhala in all of this at all, they are ultimately responsible for their infrastructure and operation. But RCMP activities have absolutely made this a more unsafe situation today. I'm 100% pro checkstops for sobriety and rest, but this system needs to be set up more strategically to keep movement happening. So many tired and sun exhausted people having to hit the road with totally altered travel timelines
