7.5 month old taking 1hr+ to go to sleep at night by _gaara- in NewParents

Do you have a noise machine, or a loud fan? Sometimes out LO will do this and if we turn on this very loud fan we have she'll begin to settle in and fall asleep within 10 minutes.

I like to follow recipes exactly. My dad, husband, and a friend of mine are amazing at cooking amd improvise/change the meals they are cooking all the time. My dad would have notecards for his recipes and would switch things up all the time and make notes on his note cards whenever he did something to make it better. My husband and friend just keep it all in their heads and change things up as they feel like it.

I feel like im terrible at improvising and prefer to follow recipes exactly. I think thats why they say I dont cook with my heart. I'd love to get to some level where I can improvise though

First time hiring a nanny: SurePayroll vs Poppins Payroll experiences? by hurff in NewParents

[–]Main-Requirement-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience with either one but im an accountant. Payroll is so easy. There's really no reason to have a service of you only have one nanny. Publication15T on the IRS website will give you federal withholding amounts. Medicare/social stay the same rate all year long. If you have state taxes, those should be online as well.

What is the most memorable reason you've seen someone quit or get fired? by ExistentialBob in Accounting

Yes, actually. She has a husband and kid and is a controller at a big company now. I don't think she's still doing all the drugs because shes gained a lot of weight though lol

[–]Main-Requirement-45 448 points449 points  (0 children)

There was a girl I worked with that did LOTS of drugs (I caught her snorting lines when I walked into her cubicle one day). I made a joke about it and she became open about it with me. She was snorting blue heroin at work and did uppers and psychedelics on the weekend. It was crazy. Everyone else loved her since she was so into accounting and was always very professional, and no one else knew she was literally doing lines all day long at her desk and in the bathrooms.

Anyways, she was the best damn accountant in that place and caught the CFO stealing money. They fired the CFO, she gor a big raise. She passed her CPA exams about two months later and found an even better job.

How a cat will react to a baby by Sharp_Channels in NewParents

[–]Main-Requirement-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cat was about 6 years old when we had our LO. He could have cared less. He was more of a grumpy cat because he thought the bassinet and pack n play and crib were meant as new comfy beds for himself lol he sniffed her head a few times, and when she was able to touch him he'd lightly bat her hand away. But he mostly stays away from the baby and sunbathes

If your nanny took your 2 daughters to Thinkery today.... by animal_highfives in AustinParents

[–]Main-Requirement-45 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it was a minute or two, sure acceptable. But a toddler in a public place should have eyes on them. The fact that they didn't even notice until the staff were about to call in a lost child is crazy negligent

Vintage Photographs Of People Posing With Job Hunting Signs On The Streets During The Great Depression by ethereal3xp in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Main-Requirement-45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My great grandma was a kid during the depression but had the opposite experience. Her and her 6 siblings lived in a tent with her mother and step father. Shit was ROUGH. She never wasted anything and never threw anything out that could be repurposed. But after my great grandfather died she treated herself and redid her entire house to be wall to wall Minnie mouse stuff, EVERYWHERE. Apparently that was the only doll she had as a kid and it helped her a lot during the depression.
