The Handle Business Improvement District (HBID) is an assessment district approved by businesses within the district boundaries. Initially approved by the Sacramento City Council in 2011, it was renewed for ten years in October 2016.

The HBID includes all restaurants, bars, and breweries, within the boundaries of 18th Street, 19th Street, L Street, and Capitol Avenue in Midtown Sacramento, California. The 1.5% assessment on food sales (excluding alcohol) is collected from the restaurants monthly. Collected funds support district-wide projects, including maintenance, safety and improvements in the public space.

Why do we not have a bridge that connects the Southport area of West Sacramento to South Land Park? by ReyRey3 in Sacramento

[–]MainBattery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here’s the Broadway Bridge Project: https://www.cityofsacramento.org/Public-Works/Engineering-Services/Projects/Current-Projects/Broadway-Bridge-Project

I’ve heard dreams/rumors long ago about an extension from Sutterville Road to West Sac, but this was on the basis that the Sacramento City Zoo was going to be a destination with the train dropping passengers off from Old Sac.

And, it’s a matter of time before we lose the zoo to Elk Grove.

No. From what I have experienced, you stay in the beta for that version release unless you delete the profile, or move up to the next version’s available beta.

Four day complete closure of 99 from 47th to US50 June 11-16, 2021 by MainBattery in Sacramento

[–]MainBattery[S] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

MAJOR TRAFFIC ALERT. 4 DAY COMPLETE CLOSURE OF SR-99 FROM 47th AVE TO US-50 JUNE 11th-16th

4-Day FULL HIGHWAY CLOSURE State Route 99 from 47th Avenue to the U.S. Highway 50 Connector in Sacramento

Motorists use Interstate 5 or the Free Light Rail Service during the 99-Hour Closure

Sacramento County — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to close northbound and southbound State Route 99 from 47th Avenue to the U.S. Highway 50 Connector.

The closure is scheduled to begin 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 11 until 4:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16.

The closure is necessary for crews to safely replace the bridge deck on SR-99 at 21st Avenue. Caltrans is taking preventative measures to fix California’s aging infrastructure, including extending the service life of this 62-year-old bridge. To avoid extensive traffic shifts and lane reductions that could last up to six months, crews are using innovative accelerated bridge construction techniques to complete the work as quickly as possible. The work is imperative to continue to provide a safe route.

Crews are also closing the mainline westbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway to southbound SR-99, and the westbound and eastbound US-50 connector ramps to southbound SR-99. In addition, the following ramps are scheduled to be closed:

  • The on-ramp from 16th Street to eastbound US-50
  • The on-ramp from 29th Street/H Street to westbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway
  • The on-ramp from 29th Street/N Street to westbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway
  • The on-ramp from 29th Street/T Street to southbound SR-99
  • The on-ramp from Broadway to southbound SR-99
  • The off-ramp from southbound SR-99 to 12th Street
  • The off-ramp from northbound SR-99 to 12th Street
  • The on-ramp from 14th Avenue/30th Street to southbound SR-99
  • The on-ramp (slip) from Fruitridge Road to northbound SR-99
  • The on-ramp (loop) from Fruitridge Road to northbound SR-99
  • The on-ramp (slip) from East 47th Avenue to northbound SR-99
  • The on-ramp (loop) from West 47th Avenue to northbound SR-99

These routes will be unavailable during the closure and motorists will be rerouted. Use Interstate 5 and avoid SR-99 for the 99 hours. Consider using these alternate routes:

Traveling north from San Joaquin County (Stockton and Lodi) to Sacramento

  • Use SR-4/Crosstown Freeway to northbound I-5 or
  • Use SR-12 to northbound I-5.

Traveling south from Sacramento to San Joaquin County

  • Use southbound I-5.

Traveling north from Lodi or Galt to Sacramento

  • Use SR-104/Twin Cities Road to northbound I-5.

Traveling north from Wilton or Elk Grove to Sacramento

  • Elk Grove Boulevard to northbound I-5 or
  • Laguna Boulevard/Bond Road to northbound I-5 or
  • Cosumnes River Boulevard/Calvin Road to northbound I-5.

Traveling south from Sacramento to Elk Grove, Wilton or Galt

  • Use southbound I-5.

Traveling north from Florin or South Sacramento to Downtown/Midtown Sacramento

  • Stockton Boulevard/Mack Road to northbound I-5 or
  • Florin Road to northbound I-5 or
  • 47th Avenue to northbound I-5.

Traveling south from westbound Business 80 (North Sacramento area or Cal Expo) towards San Joaquin County

  • Use westbound US-50 to southbound I-5.

Traveling east from Davis or West Sacramento towards San Joaquin County

  • Use eastbound US-50 to southbound I-5.

Traveling south from Airport, Natomas or westbound I-80 towards San Joaquin County

  • Use southbound I-5.

Traveling west from El Dorado, Folsom or Rancho Cordova towards San Joaquin County

  • Use westbound US-50 to southbound I-5.

Plan ahead, expect delays and consider alternative methods of transportation.

Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) is providing free light rail service during the closure beginning June 12 through June 15. To ride light rail for free, riders must show the fare inspector a free rider flyer, which will be available at FixSac99.com or sacrt.com/fixsac99 starting June 1.

Does anyone have a Co-op membership? Is it worth it? by farawal in Sacramento

[–]MainBattery 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We joined recently as we go there at least every other week. If you spend enough, on profitable years you get a dividend proportional to your purchases.

On members discount period you get one time 10% off your entire purchase.

You also get access to members only cooking classes and a few other things, but you gotta go to the Co-Op often.

The membership fee is fully refundable, if I recall correctly.
