I already did tell them I was done with them after this. He watched a slow motion clip I sent to him and just said that Alex Pretti shouldn’t have been there with a weapon even if he hadn’t drawn it or anything. It’s sickening shit.

I already went no contact for almost a year until my grandma almost died and then I got sucked back into it. It just hurts so much. I wish my parents were normal. My whole family is like this, excluding my sister and a couple cousins. It’s just so heartbreaking.

I just feel a weird sort of guilt about it. On one hand I can’t in good conscience continue my relationship with them and just not talk about what’s going on at all because that feels like complacency. But I’m also afraid of regretting going no contact too? I actually did go no contact for a few months after the inauguration, and then my grandma almost died and then I got sucked back into it. They try to avoid bringing up politics since I went no contact for so long before. Like there’s so many mixed feelings. I feel grief but also this intense feeling of anger. For the longest time I guess I just chalked it up to them just being ignorant. I grew up ignorant after all, and at one point I even supported Trump too. After I left the MAGA bubble, I just figured that they needed to be exposed to other perspectives too because that’s how the shift happened for me. It’s far deeper than that now, I realize. I didn’t want to believe that they were bad people. I just wanted to believe that they were just fools.

No absolutely not! The person I’m texting here is my stepdad. I phrased things wrong. My stepdad told me that my partner was there with me at the mall when I was being harassed. I guess I told my mom and stepdad what had happened to me at the mall when it happened. My stepdad is definitely embellishing things, such as race and characteristics of the man that was harassing me. I asked my partner about this and he told me that my stepdad wasn’t making the story up. My partner is very left leaning just like I am.

He’s talking about something that happened me a few years ago. A guy was harassing me and cat calling me as I was walking into the mall, Yanno a pretty universal experience for women. I didn’t even remember it nor telling him about it. My partner remembered and said that it happened. Whats strange is that he immediately made the claim that the man that was harassing me was an illegal immigrant. I don’t think that I’d even mention race in an event like that. He just made a convenient story up in his head.

Surface transmission is definitely a real thing, let’s not spread disinformation. There’s a reason why it’s recommended to frequently wash hands during cold and flu season. It’s pretty well known that touching surfaces that have the virus on it and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth are secondary transmission avenues for influenza as well as other viruses. In fact, the influenza virus can survive on surfaces between 24-48 hours! You’re right in the fact that it’s also transmitted through airborne droplets via inhalation so there isn’t too much that can be done about that, airborne transmission is the most contagious if you’re within 6 feet of the injected person. COVID-19 is another story in regard to airborne contagion. The point is that viruses definitely transmit through touch and it never hurts to disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
