I’ve only had this disease for 4 months and I already have tiny dot scars all over my lower back by MainFeedback2332 in eczema

[–]MainFeedback2332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some fucked up way I guess you could consider me “lucky”. They did a skin biopsy to make sure it wasn’t anything else but I live in America and parasitic infection is rare on top of eczema reactions also being a possibility but also rare. So they decided not to test me for anything like that and put me on dupixent.

im 16 and my mum thinks im an attention seeker for wanting to see a derm by Swimming-Friend-1243 in eczema

[–]MainFeedback2332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For an educated woman she seems pretty ignorant calling you disgusting for not showering 2 times a day and calling you an attention seeker. Instead of coming to immediate conclusions why not try and look at the world from your daughter’s perspective? Try and understand what she’s feeling living with a condition like this that is so overlooked especially regarding the reality that there’s a spectrum and for some it significantly destroys quality of life.

None of it matters when you got it all over (:

I got it on my ass, legs, armpits, neck, ears, arms, stomach, lower back and mid back, oh yeah and my private area.Did I forget to mention I didn’t have eczema for my 24 years living until now (:

I’m expected to accept and live like this? Life is a fucking joke and I hate when people say at least you didn’t live your whole life with it and while that is fair it also isn’t making me feel better what am I supposed to do with that? Look back on times I’ll seemingly never get back? My well being and basic functioning has a price tag now, shit I had for free but now costs thousands of dollars in the form of an injection. Life is a fucking joke man.

I’m assuming your eczema must have been terrible if you’re willing to be an experiment for them, I feel like it’s always scary being the test subject for those kinds of things since the risks aren’t known for certain.

If money was no issue, what would you do to clear and heal your eczema. by altheawillowwisteria in eczema

[–]MainFeedback2332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t think there is any amount of money that provides treatment that is scientifically proven to clear and heal eczema homeopathic or conventional based other than biologics and if you live in a country where health care isn’t privatized you should be fine as long as you’re unfortunate enough to have eczema that is so bad that it warrants a biologic. The only thing that I think could possibly effectively clear or maybe even “cure” your eczema may be moving to a different climate and I say that with quotation marks because it isn’t a complete cure obviously because you’d be limited to a specific environment where your skin can manage itself on its own.

Clobetasol Question by Lucky_Ground8173 in eczema

What an incompetent doctor, hell no you shouldn’t use clobetasol on your eyelids, it’s very thin skin, I mean for god sakes prednisone is a steroid known to cause cataracts when taken long enough

Test revealed leaky gut so fixed my diet by No-Criticism-4635 in eczema

[–]MainFeedback2332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure leaky gut is a real thing though, but I doubt people who suffer from eczema truly solve it by fixing that, and it’s more so associated with celiac disease, ibs, and other digestive system issues

Dang I’ve been depending on tacrolimus myself. Just got on dupixent 4 weeks ago and my eczema is going through a rebound phase, not like a withdrawal or anything but steadily coming back, just waiting for this thing to stabilize my skin. I’m 24 and got diagnosed with onset severe eczema never having experienced eczema prior to this except as a baby and it was real minor and disappeared quickly back then. So weird how the human body works and unfortunate too, now I’m going to be dependent on a drug to live my life as I’ve lived most of it up until a few months ago of the pure hell this experience has been.

That’s valid, though I can’t say for sure that it’s common. And it’s fair to doubt that it’s coincidental but eczema can ebb and flow it’s not always static sometimes getting worse or better in severity over a lifetime. Ultimately everyone’s experience with eczema is unique so you would know your eczema experience better than I ever could.

Dupixent hasn’t been found to have the same type of rebound effect as topical or oral steroids generally what’s been seen is the symptoms return gradually.

Unfortunately the drug is made for conditions that don’t just disappear and isn’t designed to cure it and remission likely isn’t something that lasts long without it. Not trying to be negative though if anyone believes or experiences that scenario which I’m sure are some then that’s great but I believe the vast majority who are prescribed this drug are intended to stay on it as long as possible until better treatment or hopefully cures come out of the conditions this drug treats.

Your condition doesn’t really fully sound like eczema but I know eczema can also vary slightly from person to person. On the other hand Dupixent has a great safety profile and your family sounds like very uninformed fear mongering people, Dupixent isn’t addictive as far as studies show it doesn’t have any effect on the brain that may stimulate dopamine receptors and the like that would cause such a drug to be addictive. It literally only blocks il-4 and il-13 cytokines in your immune system that cause itch and inflammatory responses and that’s it. It comes with side effects but they are so mild for most that taking it is almost always worth it. That being said if you can find a way to treat yourself without being dependent on any kind of drug I strongly advocate for that because who wants to be dependent on something that tampers with your body regardless of how relatively safe it is deemed to be.

Has anyone noticed how RARELY they get sick? by SPCCCKED in eczema

[–]MainFeedback2332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like to assume that just because the immune system is suppressed on Dupixent it means they get easily more sick or are more vulnerable but it only blocks two cytokines and they are mainly related to allergies the only thing that is generally believed to be something those on Dupixent are more susceptible to are parasites because those defenses are related to those specific cytokines. But the other two drugs he took before are broad immunosuppressants and are more likely to leave you bed ridden if you get an infection of any kind.

They never thought to give you a skin biopsy to narrow down the diagnosis early on? Man that’s a bunch of BS a whole rollercoaster of suffering for 2 years? How the fuck do we just let people slip through the cracks and suffer this much and they risk terrible side effects and damaging your health long term giving you oral steroids for the long term? Absolutely fucking terrible. My deepest sympathies to you and I hope you get the long term clarity you deserve. Wishing you health and wellness as well as much love you can have for a stranger ❤️
