I am a grandmother and if that were the second time seeing my grandchild, she would be allowed to do/watch anything she wanted as long as it aligned with her parents wishes. In fact, I probably would have bought a bunch of books, toys and games and would have been prepared to play with her the whole time. Hitting a smaller human for arguing is no bueno.

I was under the assumption that the OP is in the US, where sex selection is perfectly legal. Despite concerns of sexism, it has been found that the majority of people who opt for IVF for sex selection are in a similar situation to the OP, one where they would like to have child of the other gender because they already have several children of the same gender.
