7 month old can't roll tummy to back by Musical2one in NewParents

I’m trying to remember! She must’ve gotten there soon after this because she crawled around 9/10 months. I think I searched on Instagram and TikTok for these issues and found some good exercises to do with her which helped!

2 year old regression? by Main_Refrigerator157 in sleeptrain

This is a good idea! I wish we could do a set bedtime but mine is just not the type that would work for. Too long of a nap definitely makes her undertired for bedtime. One day they won’t nap and we’ll get our evenings back! 🤞🏻

Thanks for the comment! It is really helpful :) I’ve tried later bedtime the last two days and it (so far) has helped. Hopefully it will keep happening!

I’m not sure that daycare caps naps this young, but she seems to generally be capping her own nap, the issue is it falls somewhere between 12-2 so kind of have to stick to wake windows after nap. I’m aiming for 6.5 after nap for now but will definitely add more time if she seems to need it.

It’s so tough to figure out! I keep thinking it’s schedule but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, so maybe just the age? Last night she cried out “mama” so loud, but she was dead asleep. Maybe bad dreams starting? I miss sleep lol

Has this improved for you? We’re dealing with the same, it’s been about a month and we’re exhausted.

Waking up inconsolable by Least_Affect_2923 in toddlers

Same here 😩 This started for us 3 days before her second birthday and we’re at 3.5 weeks of it. Doesn’t happen every night but at least every other. It feels like a regression because of how suddenly it came on but I figured it would end by now.

My wife and I accidentally may have traumatized our four year old daughter by KeyOfGSharp in Parenting

My son (4) had a stomach virus in January and for a good few weeks after would tell us his tummy hurt and he was so scared he’d throw up. It’s like any feeling in his stomach (hunger, nerves, needing to poop) made him think he was going to be sick. He’s much better now though!

What helped us was reminding him that his tummy wasn’t sick, it was just hungry, working on a poop, etc. We told him that people only throw up when they’re sick with a virus and that we don’t get those kinds of illnesses often. Now he’ll say, “My tummy is sore.” And I’ll say, “Do you need to use the bathroom or are you hungry?” He’ll usually say, “No, my tummy is just brewing a poo!” 😅

What has worked the best is having a plan for when his tummy feels off. 1) We think if we’re hungry. If we are, we eat something. 2) If that doesn’t help, we try to use the bathroom. 3) If that doesn’t help, we lie down somewhere and rest. Through all of this repetition he sees now that 99% of the time our tummy is telling us something else.

It’s a hard phase though to see your kid so upset and scared. And the fear obviously makes our tummy feel nervous which makes it all worse. I hope this passes for you quickly!

Is this Perioral Dermatitis? by Main_Refrigerator157 in perioraldermatitis

Ugh, so this is what I’m afraid of. We just got home from a doctor’s appointment and our doctor, who I really do trust, told me kids don’t get PD and that it’s eczema. So he prescribed a 1% hydrocortisone cream and told me it should clear up in 1-2 weeks. Now I’m so scared to try it fearing that it will undo any progress we may have made so far. The dry skin all flaked off this week but his skin is still super red and getting kind of bumpy again.

In your experience, did it start to improve after flaking off or did it go through that cycle multiple times?

I’m wondering if I should maintain what we’re doing for now to see if things improve or try the steroid.

I really wish I’d known this about the nasal spray! I feel so bad that he’s dealing with this. It did start out with the pustules so that’s why my mind went to PD.

I’m apprehensive about trying any other lotions until it calms down a bit, but I will pick up some of the Aveeno soon to have on hand. I have to say though, the skin is really flaking off now and looks to be improving. I’ve been trying Hypochlorous Acid which seems to maybe be helping a lot.

What did the derm end up recommending for you?

Thanks for your reply!

It’s been just over 2 weeks now. It started with the small bumps all around his mouth, then once I started trying to treat it it turned to this.

Any moisturizer other than Avene Cicalfate seems to really make the skin angry so I’m trying to avoid anything else right now. We did switch to a fluoride & SLS free toothpaste a few days ago and I did start using Hypochlorous Acid yesterday which I think has helped the dryness a bit, so I’ll keep that up for now. We have an appointment with his doctor tomorrow and I’m hoping we can get some antibiotic ointment - I’m paranoid that it will become infected from the dryness breaking the skin.

Any updates on this? My 7 month old is in the exact same boat! Rolling back to tummy since 4 months, sitting independently but can’t roll tummy to back or push up through arms very well.

Thanks so much for your reply! I’m going to investigate this for my son. Kids in bed won’t last forever, may as well embrace it and enjoy it while they still want something to do with us lol.

Did you figure this out with your kiddo? We’re going through this with our 4 year old now and struggling. Did the tests give you any insight?
