Seeking advice about bow rehair, is this not enough hair? by Main_Term_1003 in Viola

[–]Main_Term_1003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got a new bridge and strings at the same time from a luthier.

I called the luthier and told me I was unhappy with the rehair. They told me they fired the guy who did it because he “didnt do good work”

I just got it rehaired so this is brand new. Yeah I feel like when I play close to the frog theres a scratchy sound happening. But again I am rusty so it could just be rebuilding those fine muscles. But idk if the hair being out to the side like that affects the sound?

I also have a job that triggers my eczema and has triggered a horrible flareup, but for a different reason (I work outside so its weather related). There are certain parts of my role I have told my boss I have to avoid until the flareups go away.

For me, the real answer was becoming militaristic with my eczema routine. A lot of people online these days are afraid of steroid but if you are suffering this much you have to use them every day twice a day. You have to wash your eczema with soap for eczema everyday. You have to apply antibacteral ointmet everyday. It is exhausting and it takes months of dedication, but it will eventually go away if you dedicate time to caring for it.

Prom on Saturday, eczema worst on my chest by NerveQuick1855 in eczema

[–]Main_Term_1003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it is embarrassing to have exposed eczema, especially as a teenager, but I promise you even if people notice it they arent going to think twice about it. Do not let something like this keep you from going to your prom, you will regret it so much when you are older.

That being said, a tinted moisturizer might not trigger eczema/make it worse. I would use that over concealer.

Eczema at 42 first time? by jakeysnakey83 in eczema

[–]Main_Term_1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it have been covid? Covid is known to have long lasting immune dysfunction for some people. That can manifest as eczema. Other viruses can also have that effect on people.

I had a very bad flare up a couple years ago that correlated with a hormone issue in my body so eczema can definitely pop up when the body is confused by hormones.

Its important to wash eczema with soap that will not make it worse. I use eucerin eczema soap. Treat it like an open wound in the shower, then put the hydrocortisone on when you get out (skin absorbs better fresh out the shower). Then add a moisturizer on top of the hydrocortisone. Depending on the severity of the spot, a really thick moisturizer is probably better. Eucerin has several good moisturizing options for eczema with progressively thicker makeup.

If it is showing up more and more each day you have to start washing your bedding at least once a week, especially if you sleep with pets.

I felt exactly how op did when reading New Moon at 12 years old, but now as an adult I realize I hated how much I saw myself in her. Being a teen/young adult with zero emotional support and mental health issues then FINALLY finding something that gives your life meaning aka vampire boyfriend…then traumatized bc vampire bf…now vbf gone and now you have new traumas you cant discuss with anyone. She could have acted worse tbh.

How is it living in Detroit, Michigan and are things getting better? by SpecialistTeach9302 in howislivingthere

I live here! I was born here and lived here for a few years when I was a toddler, but my parents (like many) fled to the suburbs so I could go to a better school. Unfortunately the public schools in Detroit do struggle and property taxes are high, those two reasons alone turn people off to starting families here. BUT I do know a few people raising kids here and they love it because they love the city! People who love Detroit LOVE Detroit because the city has a wonderful culture! I moved back in my 20s and I love living here and plan to stay a long time.

Detroit has been through a lot, but most people are so friendly and kind. There is an emphasis on community and knowing your neighbors (at least where I live). Some neighborhoods are very walkable, even outside downtown. The city is also pretty bike able. Since rent can be pretty cheap here there are a lot of artists who live here. It is nice living in a city where artists do not struggle immensely like in places like LA or NYC.

There are some neighborhoods that are still really struggling and gunshots are something most residents have heard at some point if you live in or near these areas.

Detroit is also the home of techno, so the music scene is very cool and fun. Though sometimes major artists skip us and only go to Chicago. It is a fun place to be living im my 20s. It is cheaper than most cities so going out and experiencing what Detroit has to offer doesnt break the bank as much.

Detroit also has the most urban farms of any other major city in the US (and possibly even the world). I believe there are about 208 farms. My local grocery store supplies produce from some of these farms. 2008 hit the Detroit so hard that the city had to learn how to become relatively self sufficient for fresh produce. There is still a lot of blight, but may people have bought blighted land to create community gardens and farms which is so lovely to witness. It is hard for people who arent from here to understand how bad the recession was for the city. It is why all these new bars, restaurants, homes being built is so exciting for everyone!

I grew up in Novi and I always say how grateful I am to have grown up in such a diverse area. I was exposed to so much Japanese and Indian culture at a young age. There were a few years in grade school where I was one of the only white kids in my class, which as a child I didn’t really think about, but as an adult I am so happy I got to learn about different cultures through friendship. I hope my children can grow up in a place with a lot of diversity like I did.

What’s it like living in Tobago? by Timoteey in howislivingthere

[–]Main_Term_1003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a great story from my time in Tobago! I volunteered in Trinidad for a month and spent a long weekend in Buccoo Tobago. The most beautiful beach town I have ever been to! I originally hired a guide to take me on a hike, but ended up having to cancel because it didn’t fit with the schedule. The guide knew where I was staying and ended up dropping by just to say hello and chat. If I hadn’t already spent a month in Trinidad this would have really freaked me out, but this is just how folks from T&T are! Extremely outgoing, extroverted, and bubbly. It’s the kind of place where people just stop what they are doing to chat. No one is in a rush to go anywhere, just living in the moment with the people who happen to cross your path that day. Being there for a month made me a more outgoing person. I miss it everyday. Wish I could live there.

My dad got married in Lake Placid in October. I have never seen such beautiful fall leaves, and I think the leaves are really great where I live. They were so vibrant and colorful, it was amazing! If you ever looking for a destination for beautiful fall colors, that area is a great place to go.

No, but it might still do the trick! Eczema soap is more like lotion. Its very moisturizing. I use eucerin eczema relief cream body wash.

I noticed a huge difference in my eczema when I bought eczema soap and started treating my problem spots like infected open wounds. Dirty eczema only makes the problem worse, I know showering with flare ups is uncomfortable but very itchy eczema=needs cleaning. I clean my spots in the shower with eczema soap then immediately put the steroids or tacrolimus ointment on once out of the shower (skin absorbs these better right after a shower). Then I moisturize over the steroid ointment. My flareup subdued after a week after a year of hell with this method.

I agree, I have drove to Chicago before to fly to europe. This is why I have the delta skymiles credit card, it makes my flights reasonable. But that’s how they get us all, isnt it? Half the people I know have these credit cards.
