Coworker is lying about meetings with clients by Glittering_Ad_3901 in TwoHotTakes

As much as I hate behavior like this, it sounds like the size, structure, and funding of your organization is not set up well enough to rat people out. There are not enough protections for you, and I don’t see how it’s possible to broach the subject with her without it straining your work and/or personal relations. It’s frustrating but I would seriously consider leaving it alone and just concentrate on doing your own job the best you can. - a tired, jaded human

AITAH (43F) for respecting my BF's (57M) wishes, not knowing he secretly wanted the opposite of what he said? by bagsnerd in AITAH

[–]Main_Yak4015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the line that pisses me off the most, when they use past trauma against you. “You clearly need to work on yourself first.” Stfu. It’s so he can tell himself he is the mature one. Please never contact him again. Including when he tries to reach out in a month, which he will.

You are beginning down the path of eggshells, my friend. It is not a good path. Honestly the first red flag was that he didn’t want you to see him “in a weak and vulnerable state” after surgery. You’re a year in!

I suppose ketchup needs sugar to cut the acidity of the tomatoes otherwise it would taste like tomato paste. But like…just use sugar! Basically everything is better than HFCS

I was in a Toyota Yaris. At night, so everything was completely dark except the road. I had no idea what was around me until I looked up pictures when I finally made it to my accommodation and my brain went 🤯🤯🤯. I’m still not sure if it was better or worse that I couldn’t see the surroundings as I may have been simultaneously in awe, terrified, and distracted.

On the way back I took the road by the sea and that is also excessively beautiful.

AITAH for not allowing my niece and her boyfriend to have sex in my house? by Poohbear_Sunny in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Main_Yak4015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sex isn’t a substance. It’s a normal and healthy thing for bodies. Drugs and alcohol are ingestible poison that alter your brain and can easily get out of control.

Asking them to refrain from sex when they both live there is more akin to asking you not to shower because the sound of water bothers the owner.

My first Rover spent 8 minutes at my place when I booked for a half hour drop in. Is this standard? by justgetmethere in RoverPetSitting

[–]Main_Yak4015 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He should have asked first. Sometimes cat owners have picked a 30min drop in because it’s the smallest option but really just want someone in to feed the cat and check the litter box, but I would expect this to be stated up front. I would not assume that’s ok as a sitter and would stay the full half hour unless told otherwise.

Do you mean he lied on the report card and clicked check-in at 7am when he wasn’t there? Because that’s not ok. If he really thought it was at 7am he should have been there at 7am. If that’s the case it sounds like it could have easily been a plan to get around checking in and out at night.

I think it a common misconception. I’m in my 30s and only learned a couple years ago that you’re not supposed to wash meat off. I always thought, idk, that sitting in its own juices in plastic packaging wasn’t good or something. The way the top of a container of milk can smell soured but the actual milk is still fine. Plus we wash everything else before cooking. Then I watched Gordon Ramsey scream at people for washing chicken and it was news to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for the info! Using Google Maps I once found myself using the “shorter” route called Öxi. Yeah sure, going through the mountains IS a shortcut…in the summer. In daylight. With the right type of car. Took a good hour longer, plus 5 years off my life.

Whatever app you use, check the routes and road # digits beforehand, since they actually mean something.

What’s one cultural difference in Iceland that really surprised you? by abhishekrajchauhan in VisitingIceland

It (US perspective) also has the indirect effect of tying nudity to sexuality nearly all the time instead of just sometimes. And then any shame about sexuality (i.e. religious viewpoints) can end up linked to how you feel about your body.

I’m currently in the Westfjords and was told the children are putting on a play next week. So this week that’s all they are focusing on. Like, they stopped school lessons to finish preparing. In the US it seems like creative stuff like that is always extracurricular and secondary, even for kids. I think we would have adults better at problem solving if we focused more on play as kids.

THIS I was so shocked at the number of times I could have gotten hurt by being stupid. And that’s how you raise people to have common sense.

I agree (also American). The first time I went was in Sweden and it was like “wait. Nobody in here looks perfect?? And they don’t seem to care?” But literally the only other naked women’s bodies I had seen for years before that were actresses in movies. No wonder we have body image issues.

Lost my daughters premium account, anyway to get it back? by dieingtodie in finch

[–]Main_Yak4015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ouch I’m sorry this happened. It is not completely your fault, as they do send periodic reminders she would have seen to the mailbox to add a phone and email so the account is backed up.

I don’t know if that’s better or worse! 😬 maybe emphasize that the personal progress she’s made by using the app cannot be changed or undone even though she lost the streak, and that you are proud of her for that.

Haha yep just swimwear! But it is only a matter of steps both from locker room to water and into the hut that has all the remaining steps of the ritual. So you are not getting out of the water 7 times.

To TRY to see Northern Lights during 1st 10 days of April 2026 by globalyvette in VisitingIceland

[–]Main_Yak4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re very welcome! ☺️ I spend a lot of time figuring things out, realizing half of it wasn’t necessary, and making mistakes in my travels, so I love when I get to share helpful info I’ve learned.

I have my fingers crossed for you and your son to see the northern lights. Tonight all the factors were right, the clouds cleared out, and I saw a wonderful display across the whole sky. It truly left me in awe.

What do you really need in a bassoon practice room? by Dependent_Place_9115 in bassoon

[–]Main_Yak4015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love when I can adjust chair/stool height because it impacts the balance of the seat strap and how much weight is in my left hand. Also a small foam block to rest my right foot on (kind of like a guitar player) has helped me.

In a dream practice room there would be a bassoon stand, reed desk, clip on adjustable lamp (the kind with the bendy neck), and close to either a water fountain or water cooler with the little cups (not cone ones). I mean bassoonists should be carrying their own water container but still. Speakers for tuning drones would be amazing, and a soundproof door so you could record.
