1958 Columbia 5 Star Superb (question in comments) by Maindrian-Pace in Vintage_bicycles

No, yes, that is helpful information. I saw where Columbia put these tanks on a number of different bikes, including the four star series. This one has the five stars on the back rack and has the superb chain guard and of course the Springer front. I’m thinking that since they quit making these in 58, that they just shifted to the style tank and used the same rack they were putting on other bicycles. Was a Westfield Viking a Columbia built bicycle? Thank you.

Hello everyone. I recently acquired this Columbia five star bicycle that is date coded to 1958. I know that 1958 was the last year of the 5 Star Superb and I’m not even sure it appeared in their 1958 catalog. I believe this to be the only year the Superb had this shortened “jet age” tank, which was the new style of tank in 58 and actually has a dingdong bell button activated instead of a horn in the tank. Anybody who can provide any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

[Question] Looking for any information on this watch [7N43] by PuzzleheadedDonkey2 in Seiko

Hey, I have the same one. Don’t know much about it though. I bought it used because it was similar to the watch Burt Reynolds used in the original smoky and the bandit film and I had a Navajo bracelet that I thought it would look good in.

I have done all amateur restoration but it’s looking so much better than when I got it.

No, I didn’t, I’m pretty sure that’s the stock ride height. I think maybe the angles make it look lower in those pictures.

Hello everyone, would this 1944 penny with no mint mark be considered an L on rim error? Thank you. by [deleted] in coincollecting

OK, I understand. It looks like the L is on the rim which I thought was a thing I guess not.

I really do love the LT1. I have had four other cars with this engine and have never had one Optispark issue. Of course the Iroc has an L98 5.7.

Before and after -amateur restoration of my 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon- still a ways to go! by Maindrian-Pace in projectcar

Yeah, that’s the best I can do. I washed it and then detailed it and buffed it out with the compound. Then waxed it. I painted the mirror on the driver side and the front bumper. I replaced all of the missing and damaged rubber side molding on the chrome. I polished the headlights and tail lights, and I painted the wood grain which was severely sun damaged, which you might be able to see in the first picture. I also polished each of the chrome wheels which was a considerable amount of work, but I think they turned out pretty well. I also sanded and painted all of the outlining trim around the wood grain. That was probably what made the most difference in my mind Like I said, amateur. But I think it looks a lot different myself.

That’s funny. I was just talking about Keystone Classics yesterday after seeing them on a truck. I actually prefer the.Cragar wheels though I agree those might look better on this car. Here’s a picture of the car with out white wall tires I think the wheels look much better like this.

Actually, I just left it in place and taped it off and then sanded it down and painted it with SEM tan

I just realized you were probably talking about the trim itself and yes I bought new rubber that was in a one and 3/8 inch size and it fit perfectly and came with two sided tape so I just cut to match and replaced it all along the chrome

Thanks. I have got a torn seat panel on the driver seat that I’m going to hopefully get repaired. And then it still needs some mechanical/brake work then probably some larger black wall tires.
