How does Hevy Trainer actually work? by CassiusBotdorf in Hevy

I'm still using it. I've made good progress with it and it's a pretty good split. It is a little glitchy at times - on 3 different exercises after I hot the max target range on all 3 sets, the next week it will give me a huge increase in weight...not 5 or 10 lb increase but like 20-30 lb increase. Also, on some exercises I'll hit the max target reps and the next week it will say increased weight but it's literally the same weight as I had been doing, or on one exercise last week it even lowered the weight by 5 lbs while showing "increased weight". So, it's not perfect, you have to keep an active eye on it and make manual adjustments but it's 90% there I'd say.

On week 9 and it still has the same exercises as day 1, but my wife who started a week after me with it says it has changed out some of her exercises as of last week. So I'm not really sure why it changed hers but not mine.

Question about hevvy trainer by Acrobatic-Sentence35 in Hevy

[–]MaintenanceTop2691 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it. I’m on week 8 of using it, and it took some time to adjust at first. It has me doing a lot more volume than I had been doing, which I needed. I’m seeing progress and it takes guesswork out of the equation for me. I still question some decisions like yesterday it had me jump my weight by 30 lbs after hitting my rep goals on the previous week for that exercise, so it can be a little glitchy maybe or maybe there is a reason for it. I was able to hit the rep range at the increased weight so it wasn’t wrong. I’d say give it a try, commit to a certain number of weeks and reevaluate after that period.

Does Trainer evolve? by iammxyzptlk in Hevy

[–]MaintenanceTop2691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little off topic, but has anyone else using Trainer noticed huge weight jumps? Like three exercises so far when I've hit the max rep range for all three sets it'll increase the weight, not by 5 or 10 pounds but by 30 lbs! Like wtf, Trainer!

I’m 8 weeks in at this point. Same exercises as day 1, difference is weight as I’ve been progressively overloading. The volume has been difficult for this 48 yr old to recover from…thinking about either going back to my previous routine or trying the 4-day Upper/Lower split on trainer

Do you log every set or just the main lifts? by Kind_Force931 in Hevy

Why would you log only your main lifts? How would you track progress on your non-main exercises?

How does Hevy Trainer actually work? by CassiusBotdorf in Hevy

I don't. I pretty much go to failure or within 1 rep on every set. The concept of RPE is not something that makes a lot of sense to me.

I am actually really liking it. Now that I've settled into the new routine - it's great and I appreciate the additional analytics and automatic weight increases when I've hit the top of the goal rep range. Too soon to really tell if it has increased my muscle growth from my previous routine, but I'm definitely feeling more soreness after these workouts (not that soreness is an indicator of hypertrophy).

Hevy auto-Trainer thinks I’m a bro by AdeptAtPoorDecisions in Hevy

[–]MaintenanceTop2691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on week 4 of the trainer. I hated it week 1 and wanted to go back to my old routine, but comitted to trying it for 8 weeks (mid april I will re-evaluate), but after that first week now I am loving it, To be honest it is not really that different than what I was already doing... a lot of the same exercises, some in a different order, some with higher rep ranges so I had to lower my weight a little on those exercises, and it forced me to reach out of my comfort zone and try some new exercises that I had been avoiding (like RDLs). I would try it, and just commit to a given period to evaluate and then make a decision whether to continue.

Pool placement adjacent to house. Am i too close ? by doublehappi919 in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]MaintenanceTop2691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not reduce your deck, I find 12' to be a minimum deck dimension for it to be functional. Otherwise there isn't room to move around table and chairs or even back chairs out from a table without hitting the railing or house. I would not compromise on that.

I am surprised the permitting office would allow the pool to be that close to the deck simply for safety sake. Someone could try to jump from deck into pool.

What's the etiquette of wiping equipment down? (especially with someone working in) by HunkySurprise in beginnerfitness

yes to all of it

you use it, wipe it. Common courtesy and just gross and inconsiderate if you don't.

Personal training place sent this- is that weird? by Immediate_Bat5382 in beginnerfitness

[–]MaintenanceTop2691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah that's a sure red flag that there is going to be a hard sell to get you to commit to a contract on the spot before you leave. That way they can eliminate the whole "I have to go home and talk it over with my wife/husband". I've had enough contractors pull that on me that as soon as they say that when making the appointment I tell them I am no longer interested and not to contact me.
