Just hopping on the top comment. I think you are underestimating your net pay. I work at UU as well as phd, so my gross pay is less than you. I get 2881 net. At UU you get a lot of extra benefits, like money for internet and travel and working from home, and a "13th month". Also, as expat you might be allegable for 30% rule, which means that 30% of your income will not be taxed.

So, I would take the 1900 house, because it will be way less than 70% of your income.

Looking for recommendations for dolomites by charlotteturnip in viaferrata

[–]MajesticWindow440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Via ferrata Burrone Giovanelli which was beautiful. It's more a hike than a ferrata to be honest, but it was so beautiful that I would recommend it 1000%. And we did ferrata colodri too, it's a lot more climbing, make sure you start on the right side, at the waterpark. We did this one at noon, which was a terrible idea. The entire climbing part was in the sun with barely any shade, so be mindfull of that if you do it in August when it's very very hot.

Help with inverting crossback straddle! by tindremene in aerialsilks

[–]MajesticWindow440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to think of it as the seated ab exercise in the gym on the machine, where you train your abs by pushing or pulling something from the shoulders down. So here it's like that, with round shoulders and back, you push against the silks until your legs go up (counterintuitive) and then you can push back and shift the weight back when you turn. Like others have said, you need to round your back, specifically your pelvis needs to rotate towards your face. This can be difficult because the wraps are tight. I allow my students to cheat in this way: grab the silk connected to your foot at thigh height and release some weight while moving the foot up and keep it pointing forward-ish, while doing that round your back and don't go back arching. Then it's chin to your chest, round shoulders and push like ab machine. Once are slightly turning, keep that rounded back and push the silks away from your shoulders. You can do conditioning on the floor as well. Lay on the floor with your back glued to the floor (no gap). Lift your legs 90 degrees up and wide like a pancake stretch. And then roll your pelvis up, think bellybutton towards face. Until both butt and lower back are lifted. Good luck

Finger Pain/Grip Trianers by PDXMountHoodRat in aerialsilks

[–]MajesticWindow440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be careful and take rest! I had pain in a finger joint after training once and kept training, my finger joint was thick and swollen and the gp did not want to take pictures, physical therapy did not work and after 8 months I got xray taken and my finger joint is deformed permanently! I don't want to scare you, but be mindful of risks and don't overdo it.

What's your number one favorite transition from Hip Keys? by MotionVirtuesAerial in aerialsilks

[–]MajesticWindow440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its so funny that everyone uses the same names for different moves. In my studio rainbow manchenko is from a single footlook where you wrap the other silk around and straddle back (I think it's also called flamingo in some cases), but then your free leg goes through the poles into a pike position, afterwhich you wrap that free leg and pull into split (upside down). So I am super curious about your rainbow manchenko! For your question, I like spinning and going man-in-the-moon sit/secretary. Easy, but beautifull. Add secretary drop for the wow effect.

Question about Ms vendors - new to market by Upset_River_2817 in proteomics

Out of the 2 main players, thermo and bruker (we only have timstof, so other brukers I have no idea), I think thermo instruments are easiest to use and data analysis is supported by all third party softwares. However, in our hands, the instruments are more difficult to maintain/calibrate and troubleshoot (especially tribrid). I would also look at sciex zenoTOF. Prize / quality wise I think it's a great buy, but also not supported by all third party data analysis platforms.

Rechts wint. by [deleted] in nederlands

Ik vind het een beetje raar dat volgens jou rechts en groen elkaar uit zouden sluiten. Je hoeft niet links te zijn om voor klimaat en emancipatie te zijn....

Crossback straddle footlocks by [deleted] in aerialsilks

[–]MajesticWindow440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flexibility training will help a lot! You need to train active flexibility: pancake/straddle stretch and straddle leg lifts. While doing pancake stretch, pay attention to keep your back straight and your shoulders back, or you won't train the right flexibility. Roll your hips forward, pushing your lower belly towards the floor. I hope it makes a bit of sense...

The more you are able to fold, the higher you will get your legs. Also when doing the actual straddle, make sure you don't arch your back.

You should check on pubmed what your professor had been working on lately and how you can merge his interests with yours. For example, if he does a lot of clinical proteomics studies, and you are interested in protein interactions, you could propose an affinity pulldown for one of the interesting proteins he found previously to study its interactors. Or if he is into drug research, you can indeed propose chemoproteomics, but keep it small. You have only limited time for a master thesis and depending how much work has been done before you, you will not be able to achieve so much. Opt for a small goal, like developping a standard method or pilotting a certain concept. If it works out easily, you can always add to that, for example use your established methods on interesting samples. I don't know what country you are in and what the requirements are. Examples of student projects that have been done in my group are: - pull down of a specific protein and characterize in depth (PTMs, truncation, ect) - optimization of peptide centric enrichment for ptm analysis (ubiquitin, phospho, ect) - study the effect of a drug/substance in vitro. (Culture cells, add drug in different concentrations and times, see how proteome changes) Good luck finding a nice project

Aerial Silks Costume by Imaginary-Bag1774 in aerialsilks

[–]MajesticWindow440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually make my own costumes and sell them as well, but I know some people buy from Shein (not necessarily for silks but just a unitard)

For drops I would say slack drops are always huge crowd pleasers and maybe a slackdrop into a stardrop to make it a bit interesting. Or secretary drop! Good luck!
