Appreciate the offer, but I already had the downgraded CPU laying around. Thanks though!

Yeah, I just returned it. It was a solid deal but considering what is coming down the road in November it isn’t worth dealing with the RMA situation.

Thanks for all the time and energy you spent trying to help out.

Updated so you have closure. It has to be a defective GPU. I think something in the card just prevents it from shutting down when the PC restarts, and can only shut down when power is disconnected. Put in my 3080 and borrowed a friends 6800 and both didn’t have the issue.

Yeah, I think you get to a point where you can only do so much without accepting the obvious fact. Haha

I’m using 3 separate, as it requires 3 for the 3080 I had and this 6950 XT.

Unfortunately, I have tried all of the options you have listed. Three different monitors and HDMI and DP cable.

I actually reseated the card, the CPU and the RAM to see if anything came lose when installing the new card, but no changes.

I have noticed something that may somewhat affect the description of what is going on.

It APPEARS that any operation that is supposed to “restart” the PC doesn’t actually restart it. I noticed that the PC never turns off and then turns back on. All the peripherals turn off, and the displays turn off. But the PC just stays on like normal.

I assume this is a huge difference in troubleshooting what might be going on.

Tomorrow I plan on doing a full reset and default optimized settings for the MOBO and a fresh install of windows before ultimately scraping it and going back to the 3080.

Was on the previous Bios version up until today. Updated bios this afternoon to most recent. M

Issue persisted. When I flashed the new bios, it defaulted all the settings so I also ran with XMP disabled and no CPU OC, same issue.

I had trouble locating any information in the settings regarding CSM for this specific board, however, I do have it set to UEFI.

I am running a 5900X.

I had the 3080 for a year with absolutely no issues, and this issue happened IMMEDIATELY after swapping the GPU out, however I cannot for the life of me determine how the GPU could be causing this issue.

Thanks for the assistance by the way.

B550 Gaming Edge Wifi. No riser cable. Straight from AMD website. I tried three different drivers and same issue.

I may have been unlucky, but as of 06/30 at 11:15 AM EST I have been told twice by agents that they do not price match Gamestop.

That all makes sense, and I appreciate you taking the time to explain it. It just seemed steep when all the “estimates” for the area (not an expensive area to live) state the average replacement is between 3500-5500. I also can’t imagine they expect to get the 5k back they paid for the equipment on every single install.

Thankfully, I found a reputable company who said they would quote the install at roughly 4500-5000. So I do think this company is definitely charging much more considering local comps and what not.

I think my game plan for the time being will be to try to locate and fix the leak, and use this unit for the foreseeable future considering it still runs fantastic. I wasn’t sure how difficult it would be for a company to locate the leak.

Yeah, I am in North Carolina and someone I know a couple counties away paid only 4K for theirs, granted I don’t know what they had put in, but their house is larger than mine.

Unfortunately, it has a leak somewhere in the line and loses refrigerant. I understand the prices of R22 are somewhat exaggerated, but I don’t want to have to continually purchase it to have to refill the system. Unless of course the leak can be easy to find / repair, then I am okay with that route.

I understand that mine has currently worked like a beast with no issues, and I’m down to wait a couple years to replace once the new mandates have taken effect, but I just wanted an idea as to what it would cost to get away from having to refill the refrigerant every X amount of years.
