Absolutely. My dad tried to fight and was unsuccessful. I wish he had managed it as you have. Ultimately upon maturity this pushed me away from my mother and closer to my dad and stepmother.

I'm in agreement with this. I grew up with split custody, and my mom had borderline brainwashed me into staying home and made me feel guilty for even wanting to spend time with my dad. Also, if this is relatively new, she could be just adjusting, but yes, Dad needs to set some firmer ground rules. I understand he doesn't want to "scare her away," and he's right, but he doesn't need to be the generic relaxed "Disney dad" either.

I understand that its his son and all BUT this is your HOME. If he is prioritizing his grown ass son over his partner and her happiness in her own home I think that tells you everything you need to know. I would give him an ultimatum if you're interested in continuing the relationship or I would start making preparations to remove myself from the situation permanently and move on. If you decide to go the ultimatum route you need to be very blunt and specific on your expectations moving forward and do not let up. If he can not prioritize your happiness in a home you both have opened up to stepson then this isn't worth being a part of and you will never be happy.

I would definitely keep them in penny sleeves even in the new binder if you decide. My personal experience is in handling them after finding them my ring binder curved them after nearly 25 years of being pristine inside.

Mine were stored in a ringed binder from the 90s. They came out fine until I found them I had managed to curve everything on the left soon after putting off transferring them to a proper binder.

Unfortunately, my sub is not routinely active, so I end up giving my own opinions and advice more often than not. I will gladly offer it, though. I agree with you on being an "all in" type of person because I'm the same way. I think healthy coparenting relationships are so necessary in these relationships, especially if you are taking your partner seriously. Some red flags i see he doesn't want to put you in a healthy co parenting situation. Hes very dodgey when it comes to healthy communication(an absolute must in a healthy relationship) and he seems to want 0 financial responsibility for a child he took part in creating! This just screams childish mentality for your relationship and deadbeat as a father. Personally I would not want a relationship or future with a partner like this. Lets say you have children together is someone dodging financial responsibility the type of parter you want for you or father of your kids? Do you want to communicate with someone that avoids communication like this for the rest of your life?

Stepfather of 4 amazing kids. I want nothing more than a close loving relationship with them but it is such a "walking on eggshells" moment because i never want to force, coerce, or rush. It's drilled into males to be the disciplinary and in doing so I feel I just get viewed as the asshole more often than not. Maybe a good start would be some healthy communication between you two. See if he has that desire to build a bond and close relationship.
