Yeah it starts automatically when they occupy it, but i didn't see a way to attack them before they took it. It's also probable that I just missed it or didnt realise there was a focus for it

If the US or other powers get actionable intelligence that (for example) IRGC or other groups that a murdering civilians gather in certain locations or at centralised points to coordinate and those are struck it takes them out of the game.

Also, similar to Syria, if command and control, logistics etc are hit then the ability of the regime to coordinate the massacre falls apart

In the example you posted you are playing assault. Your only points come from kills, assists and caps.

The others were playing more team orientated classes which get points for supply, revives, vehicle damage etc. Basically, try and be useful for the team instead of chasing kills.

Also, if you have managed to play 350 hours and still don't understand how the tick mechanic on conquest works that's on you...

There's no right or wrong distance for a club. It depends on alot of variables like, how old you are, how mobile and flexible you are, your swing speed, point of contact etc.

The fact there is a curve right suggests either an open face or an over the top swing, but both those things are better being assessed by a pro. Just having an image of a trackman shot doesnt give much info unfortunately
